The Australian government would not bring our horses home after WW1. The Australian Light Horsman .... absolutely devastating, these horses 🐎 were incredible. We should be so lucky our love of our 4 legged fighters 😢

My dog loves meeting new people. Giving them hugs and kisses. Inside, her favorite spot is cuddled up beside me in my hammock. She's soooo smart, calm and loving yet shes trained in schutzhund and she's a Belgian Malinois I found wandering in the streets of Mexico. Putting dogs in the line of fire is governmental animal abuse. NO DOG SHOULD BE INTENTIONALLY TREATED LIKE THAT.

Was AirTraffic Controller at K-8 in 1963-64. A K-9 guarded the tower during night time hours. During the cold winter invited the handler and his K-9 in the tower to get warm and have coffee. K-9 could not climb ladder into cab but was comfortable in the level below the cab while his handler sat with us. One night, at shift change, I walked out the door at the base of the tower to have the K-9 lung in front of me, his handler holding an extended leach. I stopped dead in my tracks totally surprised. The dog had grabbed a large rat that was in front of me and killed it. Amazing how he saw it in the dark.
Thank you for recognizing the Dog Soldiers 👵🏻👩🌾❣️

Sounds like they were a useful disposable part of the war. It breaks my heart that they were left behind yet kinda understand. I hope they weren’t just abandoned but taken care of by someone in that country. Thank you for your services, both human & dogs 👵🏻👩🌾❣️

There sentient beings with the same feelings as humans, so why are they not recognised as such, given the same respect, dignity, honour and care as all War veterans...Its absolutely disgusting that your dog loving President doesn't change the policy wording from equipment to K9 officer with a rank and insignia the same as police, fire & other K9 units...this way they can come home after tours rather than being left or shot when there handlers leave....imagine the life after the handler leaves, its no life its existing till death takes them...heartbreaking

If it's was up to the government we would be labeled as equipment

They should not have left those dogs behind! That’s bullshit! Those dogs put their lives on the line for humans without even thinking about it and that’s how humans repay them! 😡🤬

How can the military call them equipment? They are soldiers.

You will never have a better friend than a K-9. I was a dog man in the BC prison service and those dogs were invaluable for cell extractions, riot control and tracking escaped prisoners. Military service dogs are a step above because the work environment can be so lethal. A Treeing Tennessee Brindle owns me now and she has me well trained, "who's a good human"

They should allow retired military dogs to be adopted by retired soldiers first and the general public who have the skill and ability to provide the right homes for them.

I don't understand peoples comments blaming soldiers who were not allowed to bring the dogs during evacuation. We can blame that on Washington D.C. it was a hell of a thing to put already demoralized soldiers through.

No one blames the handler's,we blame goverments and their policies,to absndon the dogs. We can see and imagine that the handler's were heartbroken, from that.

War dogs should be the same as police dogs.....police dogs are officers, war dogs should be soldiers because they are! Not equipment! Frankly as an American my government and the beurocrats disgust me! Our soldiers are also just equipment and it is all wrong!

The difference here is that these dogs, these animals, are *innocents.* They don't understand politics, they don't understand why there is a conflict. What they do understand is their bond with their handlers, the unconditional love and unwavering devotion that makes them so eager to please, to learn, and to perform. Anyone who has experienced the love of a dog, let alone fought beside one, knows the pain of the loss, or even just the suffering, of that creature who looks to them for meaning and purpose. I wouldn't want to know a man who felt nothing for his dog. ='[.]'=
