This broadcast ain't 1993, more like 1997 or 1998. In Search of History premiered Fall 1997. The show itself was from the early 90s.

The end of the episode is so heartbreaking because they mention the shows that are coming up next and the shows that are playing later. I miss the old History Channel so much, and I just wish the big wigs in charge would understand that all of us consumers feel the same way I do.

Just TERRRRRIFIC !! And to think that NOW there exists on Treasure Island an entire going endeavor SPOTLIGHTING that most marvelous fair of decades ago: the "Treasure Island Museum". It is located on Treasure Island itself, and so is not in-the-least affected by what is happening (most sadly) on the mainland. They've a truly splendid website where one can view all sorts of neat things plus a channel right here on good old Y-T !! Just 'Search' for it above.

Fantastic Video! KTVU did another video covering the fair, aired in 1989 that ran an hour. Containing much of the material in this video, it had many on-screen interviews of people who worked there. That program should be on YT as well. We discussed it at work the next day.

At 17 minutes 38 seconds a biplane is shown flying inverted. At opening day in Feb 1939 my mother ( Miss Alameda County -age 19 / Catherine Lorraine Harcourt ) was the passenger in perhaps this same plane and flew inverted under the Golden Gate bridge towards Treasure Island in the opening ceremony for this The Golden Gate Exposition / Worlds Fair. She would be known as Rana D'harcourt and became a successful Bay Area ballet dancer touring with Choreographer / Premier Danseur and only partner Raoul Pause. One of Raoul's future ballet students would create the Oakland Ballet company still in existence today.

Washington HS swim team trained there regularly. Using the deep end between the 50 yd bulkhead and the end under the towers. Held high school championships and AAU meet, including the Far Westerns in early 60's. Yes, it was cold especially right after it was draned and new water pumped in from the ocean across the street. Also worked as lifeguard there during the summers, had a great time. Bill Sakovich

I never saw these guys perform, but I have a clear memory of the Queen’s visit and her taking in the show. I’m glad I watched till the end for the surprise inclusion of the Janet Leigh interview, where I learned that she was still smoking late in life, and engaging in animal cruelty in the form of catch-and-release fishing!

This collection shows how an independent theatre in a small city was able to give a kind of personal touch to their advertising, and overall good communication with their audience--something that builds loyalty in patrons. As of the writing of this Comment, the Chabot Theatre in Castro Valley is still a full-time, operating movie theatre, with a single screen--its neon marquee long a local landmark.

Interesting to hear how the announcer flips his "R's," like a classical actor or singer. That's how announcing was still taught in the 30s!

During drought, really easy to recycle water into yard from small bungalow.. even if it looks like emptying a boat..one bucket at a time. It was worth the effort as our landlord, a WW2 veteran was proud his hydrangea was kept up and local nursery would stop by collect cuttings.
