Mr. Johnson, your attitude, your opinion that "we are not providing legal training to police officers" is in fact the biggest problem the community has. If police knew the law, there would be few civil rights violations. And most communities spend less than 6 months training police in "how to do their job". Their job is not how to CYA in reports and torture points for human compliance. Police Abuse has grown substantial in America in the past 30 years, must because PD polices protect law-breakers and oath-breakers.

If you are a young or old police officer, what say you check with your government/city administration and ask them if you are insured against personal lawsuit for something that happened it work. Ask, don't want until the situation presents itself.

I have been a registered nurse for 20 years. I need assistance to help me understand why my cellphone privacy has been invaded constantly and I've been targeted nationwide by stalkers? I feel it is a huge imposition on my human rights done on purpose. It has effected my ability to earn money for years! I have done great things in the name of nursing that are researchable, but what Ive been experiencing from people has been very upsetting. Im begging someone to help me understand why and how it can come to an end. I don't mean to use this profile for my own good but something very abnormal has been affecting my life as a nurse and a human being for 14 consistent, documented years. I have submitted proof of this activity to numerous agencies and authoratative organizations that express the criminal nature of what I desire to be rid of, but to no avail. Im dying for it to end so that I can live without fear and galling limitations like this.

I begged/demanded a Trial. I'm innocent and was charging with assault because I stopped a man who was cussing my 13yr old daughter out as He went charging towards Her. I was shocked I was charged with anything! Twice I was a couple days from Trial, and I'd get a call saying they were changing the date! And eventually after a year, I was a week from Trial and my lawyer told me if I didn't take the plea deal of Disorderly Conduct, that I'd upset the judge and He'd throw me in jail! So I gave in and took the plea deal! It bothers me so badly!!! I did nothing wrong!!!

Both of these fine attorneys did a great job presenting this topic. However, they both appear to believe that statutory law always trumps (unfortunate word) case law. It seems to me the reality is just the opposite, and that this has been true at least since 1803 with the Supreme Court's opinion in Marbury v. Madison, where Chief Justice John Marshall opined something along the lines of "it is decidedly the province of the Court to decide what the law is." One interesting feature that appears very often in custody cases in Utah is that our District Courts will almost always adopt the recommendations of the Guardian-ad-Litem in the case rather than accept the stated wishes of the parties. (I personally think that's a good thing.)
