This is the best version of this song. The other versions are slightly too fast. This version is perfect. 🙏

...I used to love this song, but after something I just went through I cant help myself from seeing myself in the person the singer is talking about and feeling that the perspective of the singer is immature. It sounds like a woman who was unhappy and felt trapped in a relationship with a guy, and he became bitter about the break up. Now that theyre meeting again and all she wants is peace and see if hes grown without her as much as she has without him, but all hes done is cling to his preconceived notions about how things should work. All hes done is sit in stagnation, thinking he has no need to change when he should have been reflecting on who he is as a person and how his thoughts and actions affect his social life. Although this could just be me projecting a bit

Starts like a “melty”, ballad intro, but it turns out to be powerful, always full of sentiment though.

I am much more of a fan of REM's earlier stuff, especially Murmur, but this song is great, much better than all the overplayed commercial stuff they started doing in the 90s.

It's a behind the scene footage for when they filmed the video for "Can't Get There From Here"...So I put them together to make a video for this song from the same album.

I can't understand why Michael stipe never learnt to play an instrument I'm sure if had really persevered he would have been able to learn something so he could play it in concert. I'm not saying he didn't have a fabulous voice I almost feel tormented every time I hear him sing .

My favourite song recorded by anyone, ever. A film distilled into a few minutes of music. As close as an instruction book for me as you will ever get: I want you naked I want you wild In want the stars to know they win Give me that smile Just give it me Just turn it on I"m lost again
A rare Mike Mills lead. Always one of my favorite R.E.M. tracks.

The real ignoreland is fans who idolize pretentious rockers who get ultra-wealthy from capitalism..then preach against capitalism and call themselves social democrats and the fans ignore the blatant hypocrisy. I enjoy R.E.M's music, but their political views are comical when you realize this song came out 4 years before they signed the biggest recording contract in history with Warner Bros to the tune of 80 million..all made possible from the previous administrations because Clinton hadn't really done anything at the point. Michael Stipe owns a home in SOHO worth 10 million dollars and that's just one of like five...I'd say..capitalism has done him good. Oh...and not all great rockers are liberals...Johnny Ramone was a Republican. You can agree to disagree and still enjoy music.
