R-Type Final was first in the series I played, and I was unaware of any of the other installments. I think that it is nice that the game referred to the past game, and I especially love how one of Delta's themes was redone specifically for this level. It tells me, the player, that there is a bigger story outside of the one told throughout Final, and that you're just a part of what has been a far bigger war.
