I'm glad you found the tips helpful! I'm a big fan of Astrobright text weight papers. Those are available on Amazon. I also use paper from French Paper company, which I order direct from them.

I have the scoring stylus and when I was making a card, when I would send it to my maker, it would kick the tool out. I had the correct tool selected in Design Space and I examined the tool, as well as made sure it clicked into place. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Can you please tell us the exact colors of Artist's Loft alcohol markers you used? Also, does text-weight mean 24lb paper? Thank you!

Yes, 24lb is a common weight for text-weight paper. That is the weight I used for the dandelion, from the Astrobright brand. I don’t recall the exact colors of the markers I used, but I typically use olive or moss greens, often combining multiple shades. I don’t purchase the artist loft markers any longer because I’ve found they don’t hold up well over time.

Sure, that’s one of the great things about paper flowers - you can make any color you’d like. I made white dandelions with black leaves and stems and quite like the result.

Can I write something in another program like Adobe Illustrator, then import into design space and have it follow the font and style from Illustrator? I need a font that isn't listed in design space, but is available in Adobe. Thanks @Especially Paper

The pen will follow the outlines of the letters. If that’s what you’re looking for, then the artwork can be saved as an SVG from Illustrator and uploaded to Cricut. The font will need to be converted to outlines before saving the SVG.

It depends on the types of cuts you’re making. Detailed cuts will wear out the mat faster. I tried to record how many times I could use the mat. It was over 20 when I lost count.

Hi Denise, it’s hard to tell without more info. If it’s not the pen itself (I have this issue with gel pens that get dry) then I would check your set up to make sure all the writing is set to the draw operation with the right pen selected.

The new sea holly template for cutting machines is available! Here’s my process for coloring the bracts (the petal-like bits) using art markers, a white brush pen, and PanPastel. What’s your favorite coloring medium? 1. Not shown: Medium green text weight paper is colored all over with a blue-green alcohol marker. 2. White veins added with a brush pen (a new favorite). 3. Purple PanPastel applied to the center, fading out towards the tips. 4. White PanPastel applied to the tips and faded in to create the ghostly pallor of some sea holly varieties. I use the same process for the leaves, minus the addition of purple.

How do you set score lines at different places on a paper please as I am pulling my hair out!! This is what I am trying to do. You should be able to place the score lines where you’d like them to be on the mat. If you’re cutting from a 12 x 12, you could create a 10 x 10 box to group with the lines which could help keep everything in place. Flipping would be tricky to get aligned. I’ve never tried it but it should work as long as you can perfectly align the sheet on the mat and the mat goes into the machine precisely. I hope that helps!

I’m sorry, but I haven’t done that process with a laser in a long time so I don’t recall setting details. I did always cut paper at the lightest setting that would get the job done to avoid burning/smoking the edges.
