My Dad and I used to listen to AKUS on our Sunday drives. I miss you, soooo much, Dad. R.I.P. Always, i will love you, and will play this song while I drive the back country roads, where we used to sing together, out our open windows...xoxo

The song for my entire life. How I felt in abusive lifelong marriage I never even wanted.

One of the most beautiful and haunting pieces of music I've ever encountered.
I guess I joined the club I never wanted to be a part of. I lost my best friend and love of my life 2 nights ago. It’s so quiet here tonite. I miss him 💔 RIP KRH

I’ve listened to this song numerous times and love Alison’s vocals. She is definitely one if not the purist voices around today. Alison has also surrounded herself with amazing musicians too. She’s absolutely great.👍👍🇨🇦

When I hear this song , I think of my Daddy , when my Moma had passed on to live in Heaven and what his feelings and thoughts were days in and nights. I tear up and miss the both so much. Now they are both in Heavens Home. I Love you Moma and Daddy and my brother Blane. 💜💚💙

40 years ago, (this weekend in fact) I met the man of my dreams. We married in May of '84. We had 2 beautiful children, 12 years apart (medical issues on my behalf). Though we went through struggles, We NEVER gave up on each other, our marriage and our family. He passed away suddenly on July 4th, 2021. My 💔 heart was shattered and continues to be, because I went from being an 18 year old kid living at home with my parents, to being married. There was always taking care of me. I am a mere ghost in my home now. Time melts together. Most days, I have no idea what day it actually is. I was today years old when I found this beautiful song.

I've been thinking and trying to collect the lyrics for the past twenty minutes about this song when I haven't heard this song in YEARS. I finally collected and remembered some lyrics to then search on Google and KZbin to finally find this song. Memories are flooding back that I miss but hurt at the same time.

Alison Krause singing I'm Just a Ghost in this House the most beautiful love story ever heard. Alison captures our hearts wrapping each in debilitating sadness. And, a spirit rises from the ashes as the Phoenix never dies.

The patience and precise control Alison has over her voice is awesome! Not a note rushed, deceptively gentle, no extra little frilly trills to disguise weak phrasing or breath control.

This is a great hymn to lost love. In my case it was divorce. Could be other. I learned to play it on guitar because Alison's version was the first I heard. Hugh is here on YT and worth listening to. We all have ghosts, even if we are not one. Be nice and hope you don't cause one.

I came out to my mom and at first she was so supportive but then she just changed and listening to this song (been listening to this my whole life) has me crying in my kitchen in the dark at midnight. I can feel the pain physically in my chest. I cant even explain it to her.

This song is absolute perfection and absolute heartbreak. The lyrics are SO well written, (thank you, Hugh Prestwood) and the melody is perfect. The version by the band Shenandoah was wonderful but cannot compare to the hauntingly beautiful rendition by the angelic Alison Kraus. Kudos to the band and the background singers as well. The harmonies were perfect. Alison has the voice of an angel.
