Hi Maria, thanks for watching and the question. To achieve dense growth most of the time they need to be lightly headed back from and early age and then trimmed only once a year after the initial Soring growth is out and almost mature. That leaves enough time for recovery and new secondary growth to meet and fill in. Rinse and repeat over and over. If left unprinted then they can get range and open growth habit in appearance. Also check for adequate sunlight at least 8 hrs unfiltered. Let me know. Coach M. HH.

Will a soil drench application take care of the aphids?

It can help but horticultural soap through a trombone sprayer or similar tool on a once a week for 3-4 weeks is the quickest. Depending on what type of tree, but crape Myrtle get finicky with soaking wet roots. Good luck. Coach.

Please don't spray to kill the grass! So many options that are better for the environment. Cardboard is an easy alternative that many of us have lying around. Cardboard, compost and then plant something that is native and drought tolerant.

Well, I've used 100% cold pressed neem oil on my inflamed, itchy, dry scalp and it's worked wonders!! Mixed with a carrier oil (jojoba), let sit 1-2 hours then wash with baby shampoo. Had previously tried SO MANY combinations of shampoo and conditioner and NONE of them worked for more than one day. Will try on the fruit trees now. 😊😊

Prefect timing! I just planted 15 young trees in Sep, i only planned to stake them till next spring no later than summer, because they grew in fabric pot, so they are tall but the trunks are very skinny/ thin. Otherwise I love the trees so far. Ohio can be windy during winter time, didn't want to risk it. When did you love to Maine? I always thought you were in CA. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family and Merry Christmas!

@YardCoach we built a house on a new property, just moved in this May. We removed all the bad trees like cottonwood, and started everything from a blank slate. I planted kousa dogwood, shumard oak, swamp white oak, autumn fantasy, purple leaf plum, Chinese pistache, black gum, rising sun redbud, and snowball viburnum. I also planted hedges of limelight and vanilla strawberry hydrangeas, blue point juniper and emerald green arborvitae hedges, will plant green giant arborvitae next spring. Been really fun, glad I decided to go with small young trees, glad I have the ryobi auger to help with the digging. Gardening is so fun!

Found out the hard way about giving them a heavy prune. My 6 year old tree was not happy. Not only that, shortly after we got hit with heavy tropical storms and then she got infested with spider mites. I'm currently nursing her back to health and hoping she can recover. She gave me the most beautiful blooms last year 💔
