My heart is breaking- reading his biography- been a lover of his music since the 70’s - and find he was such an abusive husband , father and businessman - so sad

This is from John Martyn's second Whistle Test appearance in 1973, on Tuesday October 16th. The second number he played was 'Outside In'.

When the pain of living and of love contrives to make music this expressive it will resonate forever. An astonishing, heartbreaking performance by an uncompromising genius. RIP John.

The way he plays this makes it so discordant, yet it works perfectly. It the best representation of being under the influence of a class A drug that I have ever heard. I dont advocate using, but this is utterly superb!

they need to turn the keyboard player down a bit. I heard Martyn was pretty horrible to his wife, which makes his self pity on Grace and Danger a bit hard to stomach, but its hard to deny the man's talent as a singer, songwriter and a musician
