Thank you - clear concise tutorial. Upcycled a silk tie to a small purse. Used your method and the leftover silk plus cord to make a purse strap. Turned out lovely 😊

I've been looking all morning for a clear video of how to do this. Thank you. I want to say this in a way that doesn't make it sound like I am calling you old because clearly you are not but you remind me of my grandmother and your video was excellent.

Very enjoyable to watch this informational presentation. I am planning to sew some roman shades for narrow (30" x 60") & long windows and thought a clutch system might offer a more professional look and eliminate the hanging cords from the shade. There is a wrinkle of sorts - would like to have a top-down and bottom up style and wonder if the clutch system would work. We prefer to have the top part of the window exposed for light while the blind will cover the lower part of the window for privacy. Now try not to laugh but before I researched top-down operation, I wondered if the header rail would have to be mounted on the bottom of the window frame. So any suggestions you may have will be welcome to help me come to a decision on what system may work best. Thank you so much for this detailed look at the clutch system.

My apology for a late reply! There is actually one system called VAKO on the market that offers a top-down-bottom-up. You can also mount two systems on a dustboard, one to operate the top and one for the bottom.

Great video, thanks. Is there a limit to how long you can make covered welt cord? I need almost two yards of continuous cord. Can I make it that long?
@LivewithSandraV
@LivewithSandraV 2 жыл бұрын
I think you could make two yards without any issues. The main issue with making very long strips, is that some fabric will fray and your stitches will pop, your hands will get tired turning, or the fabric will start to twist around the inner cord. Just double stitch if your fabric tends to fray, or the stitches pop. Hope this helps

I can't find mention of what you did with the top edge of the fabric and lining - to attach it to the roller mechanism. Or did I miss it somehow? Can you tell me please?
@SandraVanSickle
@SandraVanSickle 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna, the fabric will be stapled to a board, we refer to this as a dust board. The shade headrail system will be attached to the bottom of that board. I hope that makes sense.

I love this video. I purchased my Johnson Ruffler from Mr. Johnson in the late 80s. I have made a many of ruffled curtains. I haven't used it in awhile and looking around at videos to see how it is being used today. Thanks for this video. It was a pleasure getting to know the man behind this machine.

You have an excellent video showing how to sew this. I will definitely do a search for other videos from you. How did you finish the ends? I am making cording for a sweatshirt.
@LivewithSandraV
@LivewithSandraV 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peggy, thank you for the compliment! Depending on the use, you can finish the ends in different ways. You can cut back the inner cord and then tuck the fabric inside and close up with a ladder stitch or you can do a knot at the ends. If you like, you can follow me on my other channel where I concentrate more on quick sewing tutorials. A lot of what you see here are my Live shows. kzbin.info/door/O-h4vl5vW31SJF7yZ0t6cQ
