A true master of his craft. Lang and Donati are my 2 favorite.

He's one of the most skilled drummers of all time and uses his music as a means to push drumming forward in new directions. It's necessary to have drummers like him because he inspires other drummers. If you ask any professional drummer who the best are, most will have Virgil in their top 10 of all time. If you want to call him or his music stupid, at least do it in a way that makes you look educated. There's a reason he's 66 and still playing clinics and gigs and still blowing minds while you're... wait, who are you again? What are you known for?

I bought these after seeing Ray promote them. I also personally had the chance to meet Ray at a private lesson during Haken's tour and he showed me them first hand. After trying the XCarb and loving them, I also ended up trying and BlackDiamond and found that to be a bit heavier and right up my alley - not too heavy but just on point. Been playing Black Diamond's 5As and ABSOLUTELY love these sticks. Seriously... these sticks make me want to play, they make me want to practice on a pad and I love this! Techra fan right here <3
Did he just play the one drop version of the Eulogy beat 😮

Follow up. Ordered them, like them a lot. I also ordered the hammer of the gods 5a which I'm now using for my dailies. Love them. Still on my first pair and that's 5 gigs plus about 8 hours of practice a week.

Alot of excellent drummers in this world. Virgil is in his own stratosphere with his style. Their is no one to compair him too and no one alive at his level. He is the best at his craft.

Virgil was the first drummer I ever saw do double strokes on double kick. All the kids are doing it these days i guess lol. Regarding this piece, tbh it doesn't sound like much of a solo. Just sounds like a groove imo.

I love Virgil but he can tend to lose me with the technicality. It becomes more about that than musicality and that's when my interest starts to wane. Been a fan of Virgil for years and always will. It's just the past couple years this style doesn't appeal as much to me personally.

@5:20- Reggae drum clinic here. When the singer transitioned into "Lively Up Yourself," Santa fell into a one drop rhythm for ~6 measures, then goes into an extended break beat. BUT HE NEVER LOST HIS PLACE on the metronome when he resumed the one drop riddim @6:12 👏🏾
