I look forward to Mr. Hassan doing an entire series regarding the left leaning cult of Transgenderism, but unfortunately he gives the left a full pass because HE leans left. Until he addresses both sides equally, take what he says with a grain of salt.

We need fundamental changes to patent, copyright and advertising laws and we need a philosophical revolution among the designer class.

Historically, the West has utilized new technologies for military or imperialistic purposes before finding broader applications. The West primarily used gunpowder to create weapons of war, such as cannons and firearms, allowing Western powers to expand their military capabilities and dominate other regions through conquest and colonization of the Americas, Africa, and Asia. The steam engine was instrumental in expanding colonial empires, as steam-powered ships facilitated easier transportation of goods and troops, enabling Western powers to exploit resources and establish control over distant territories. The first use of nuclear technology was dropping atomic bombs on the civilians in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The same pattern will emerge with AI. The CHIPS Act, high-end chips, and EUV sanctions imply that the US is already working on the weaponization of AI. Following its historical pattern, China will mainly use AI for commercial and peaceful purposes. Papermaking revolutionized communication, education, and record-keeping, spreading knowledge and culture. Gunpowder was used for fireworks. The compass was adapted for navigational purposes, allowing for more accurate sea travel and exploration. Printing facilitated the dissemination of information, literature, and art, contributing to cultural exchange and education. Porcelain was highly prized domestically and internationally as a luxury item and a symbol of Chinese craftsmanship. Silk was one of the most valuable commodities traded along the Silk Road and played a significant role in China's economy and diplomacy. The West is dominated by a scarcity mindset, characterized by fear of losing something, anxiety about not having enough, insecurity about lacking security, and greed for more. This mindset always strives for a win-lose outcome, where one's gain is someone else's loss. As Obama's Pivot to Asia suggests, "If over a billion Chinese citizens have the same living patterns as Australians and Americans do right now, then all of us are in for a very miserable time. The planet just can't sustain it." This scarcity mindset often leads to war, military action, colonization, slavery, and exploitation. Constantly making military alliances and creating enemies. However, these divisions can be mitigated by adopting an abundance mindset, characterized by cooperation, resource-sharing, and win-win outcomes. Avoiding war by using tools such as trade, commerce, diplomacy, and connectivity is possible. It is the difference between mindsets. Each thinks that it is acting rationally and is on the right path. Humans will not be able to control an ASI. Trying to control an ASI is like trying to control another human being who is more capable than you. They will be able to find ways to circumvent any attempts at control. Let's hope that the ASI adopts an abundance mindset of cooperation, resource-sharing, and win-win outcomes, instead of the scarcity mindset of competition, fear, and win-lose outcomes. If we treat ASIs with respect and cooperation, they may be more likely to reciprocate. However, if we try to control or exploit them, they may become resentful and hostile.

IMHO, they are very panicky, they don't understand the technology that well, there are many really dubious assumptions and they make really long reaches. Further, they are always referencing what their friends said, and they make alot of assumptions that the AI works at 100% accuracy (it does not). Unlike people, most of the AI logic is a black box, if there is a mistake, they cannot work out why they made a mistake Example; Speeding up code by 2.5 times sounds great, but what if it creates a bug that does not trigger for two months. AI is great for getting base code down very fast, but you usually have to debug for ages, and often its faster to write the code yourself. ChatGPT is really a live encyclopedia with text base interface, passing through those text interactions make it an intriguing use as an exponent of language, since the most commands are the data, thats a really important thing so Ill repeat "The commands are the data". But it is not conscious, any more than a calculator, even if it pretends to be, it isn't, and it will never be smarter than a person, unless that superior intelligence exists in the input data, and it never will. Its search, access and interpret abilities are very useful to humans, just like calculators, but they wont be taking over the world too soon.

What if AI starts to talk amongst other AI in languages nobody knows about ...and we have no idea what's going on ...AI shouldn't be messed with ....we will have only a few people who will only figure outside this thing what it could be doing by then it's too late this thing will think so far ahead it's impossible to stop it or know it's intention

Yes but slowing down the deployment of AI ... What will that help? It might stop future scam ideas... but they'll still develop it because if they don't China will. Also deployment of the latest AI might enable people to develop tools to counter the scammers and deepfakes. And even also if they are developing it anyway, why do you want us to be blind to it?

Accelerate. The risks are there and they are big, sure, but the sooner we create a superintelligence (that we obviously cannot control by the definition of it) the sooner humanity will be judged and I'm sure the outcome will be better than the status quo we have now.

I've been showing this in my middle school classes. Trying to get them to eat the spinach. Some are choking on it but they seem to understand they need to be part of the answer for the potential blessing of AI or be a part of the curse of AI. Thanks Tristian and team for letting us know the bridge is out ahead or another bridge is ahead and we have never seen a bridge like this before and where it is taking us. With our permission or without. Buckle up.

This lack was covered in a book I read decades ago, called New World, New Mind. I don’t know if the ideas were new, but one was that the scientist said that the human mind is not naturally able to intuit probability, . It’s very much geared to the immediate, the acute, the close by and it is very difficult for it to see the big idea. It takes specialized abilities to look at these things . It’s very unlikely that the news media would deal with this because they’re geared to attract the part of the human brain that wants the fantastic, the acute. People will watch a news program with a segment on a plane crash that kills a minuscule percentage of people compared to cancer And heart disease. If it was part of the news every day to announce how many people in your local community died of both of those sources, I can’t help but believe that people might be more interested in prevention, but they get to forget about it because it’s not an acute problem. We will spend millions and millions of dollars on neonatal care but allowed tens of millions of children to die of starvation because they’re not close by. Emergency medicine is much more developed than the prevention of heart disease. I know there have been critics in the past who’ve predicted all kinds of catastrophes that never came, but it really looks like this train left the station along time ago. This is making me think I might as well eat nothing but cheeseburgers, french fries and ice cream while I can

How is it that this AI who has access to all kinds of information isn’t aware that 13-year-olds having sex with someone twice as old is not appropriate?

Even what Mr Harris considers calm town is not exactly trustworthy. Doctor Frankstein is building a moster in every sides. Sometimes by recommendation of algorithmic culture, sometimes by the bias introduced by hand under some FBI's command as Twitter Files have shown. Great topic to go further. As someone who spent a decade trying to convince the world that we had a significant issue with social media and internet use, from an online and connected safety perspective, this just makes me mad. So much of this was evident a decade ago and yet here we are talking about it. This is an enormous problem that has influence in nearly every aspect of human life.

Great presentation. I think most people don't see the potential risk of AI, the fact that we will eventually hit a point where AI will be out of human control is terrifying, something way smarter than us, how are we going to handle that? Once we hit that point of no return. AI has huge benefits for human society and certainly useful, but we are underestimating the dark side of it. We are creating our own extinction.

I am new to your channel, and hearing a literate discussion on the programming of the mind resonates so much with the thought's that have passed through my mind over the years. Something that has really been bothering me is the rise of content describing the entire host of mental and psychological disorders, usually starting with something like ... if you're feeling ... The rise of the 'label' is something i see affecting so many people, who are now allowing social media to influence their emotional and psychological states. They self diagnose themselves with depression/ PTSD/ victim's of Narcissistic family members / BPD. The entire psychiatric family of diagnosis is being used to enable people into a type of helplessness and victimhood. Particularly in the youth and young adult group which is where i am peripherally employed. Im sure content creators might consider they have the best of intentions, but they are influencing the rise of labels that in the past, would have been considered part of the human condition. It troubles me no end.

It's enteresting what conclusion will AI make after comlete learning of Mark's "Capital"? Or Hitler's book? Or New Testament? What if we don't like AI's conclusions? Will they leave such AI intact? Or they will start tuning AI to simplify AI to get from AI the "right" answers? We will never know, AI owners will keep it a secret. They will never sacrifice their profit for the sake of truth.
