Any Fluval FX Spray Bar Reviews? Is it true that spray bars puts pressure on the filter motor and causes them to burn out?
@aquamanaquatics63935 күн бұрын
I can't see that being an issue as the fx series are designed for you to reduce flow via the tap connectors. I also reduced the pipe diameter from standard to 19mm with no issues

Cheers from my fish room channel in Chicago, where I've subscribed to yours :) Love Oase filters and have several but I never use the plastic stuff so no clue what happened in your filter.

It was a clients of mine. Thanks for the sub, I don't post too often. Only when I have something worth posting. I came across this when servicing his filter today and had to make a video about it.

The biomaster has prefilter sponges which are very simple to clean and make maintenance a breeze. Ideally the prefilter sponges should be course. Then the bottom filter tray should be medium and fine sponge. The next tray up should be biological media. I favour Biohome Ultimate. Had nearly a decade using this, the oldest is still in very good condition and combined with heavy planting I have very low nitrates. Lower than my tap water. The top tray, more biological media and maybe top with activated charcoal or a resin media such as Purigen. I rinse the prefilter sponges under a tap in my sink, the whole process takes less than 10 minutes from turning off the filter to having it running again. I make sure that the sponges are wrung out well so as not to introduce cholrine/chloramine laden water into the filter. I'm sure other people do it differently but this works really well for me and having kept fish for close to 40 years on and off, this is the best filter and setup I have experienced. Plastic media, in my opinion, doesn't belong in an external or internal filter.
@aquamanaquatics63938 ай бұрын
Good advice. I setup most of my filters in the same way. I was just shocked at how easily this media broke down. I only setup the filter as it came from the factory as there's another filter running alongside the biomaster.

I wonder how long they'll stay black for. Rubber can discolour over time underwater.

Great video and I appreciate the review! Although, that powerstrip beside it scares me! I would at least mount that, just in case leak or water splash during disconnection.

I have had a spray bar on my 407 for months, and I have not found it difficult to adjust the angel of the spray to fit what I want at the time. I also have it straight across the top and I do not notice the white connectors. Could have been black, but I see the output fittings more than the one on the spray bar. I'm looking for videos to see if I want this on my 125g due to poor water movement on the intake end. Thanks for the video

Agree with the finish issue, holes spray in slightly different directions and a bit rough on the edges. The extra pipe work is for the different set up options i assume. I have all 3 pipes connected and works well for surface agitation, no more ugly air bubble stones. Two pipes connected will slow the flow rate. A bit pricey, but easier than building your own.
@chrispalmer98022 жыл бұрын
What is the reason for the ribbed fluval tubing? Also, do you know a few more ways to slow the flow of an fx4 besides curling the tubing like you mentioned?
@aquamanaquatics63932 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris and thanks for your question. I believe the reason for ribbed hosing is to stop kinking. As for slowing flow I like to angle the outlets toward the glass to help distribute the water. Apparently you can use the adjustment on the outlet tap. However I haven't done this incase it puts too much pressure on the seals and starts to leak.

How is the sound level of the 850T? Is it silent enough for use in a living room?
