I've heard seeing the image in your head before snapping the shot also plays a role in your editing style. Would you agree based on your experience?
@MaartenSchrader11 сағат бұрын
Yeah for sure, you can also see the editing when you understand the placement of colors and how it works with lighting - eg with the editing style your going for you will know how the skintone will be effected. eg - subject in the shadows, backlit, bright lighting but underexposed in camera....

Awesome! Thank you always for inspiring Maarten. I've learned so much from your tutorials and also from just you sharing your thought process. You once shared a bts video of you doing a photoshoot with a model, in your own home I think(?) I think it was like a year ago or something... I would love to see more like that. :) Keep on creating!

Just a small correction: when you choose a slow shutter, the shutter doesn't actually close slower, it just remains open for longer and then closes at the same speed as if you had selected the fastest shutter speed available. All that changes is how long the sensor is exposed and capturing light.

Do you have any color grading books to suggest that would help me gain a better understanding of color and how specific colors interact with highlights, shadows, and midtones?
@MaartenSchrader17 күн бұрын
Have you done my free trainings? The course is very much how to work and manipulate color. Different lighting is a big part of that
@LE007EL17 күн бұрын
@@MaartenSchrader I took the course but looking for something in depth about different hues shows in different light conditions, flash, and sunlight. Also, how we can come close to tones in Photoshop and which tones/hues go well with different examples of highlights/midtone and shadow.

Great video, great photos in use to help convey this ultimate guide in color theory. One question Maarten: I have been receiving mixed info on what type of color wheel to use, i.e RGB, CYM, etc. When I heard you explain that you use RGB to manipulate color grading in your photos and CYM when you think color theory while taking these photos, I felt the dime falling. I finally understand. But then shortly after you have described this simple approach, you use RGB color wheel to explain the color harmonies in your photos. You lost me. Is this deliberately or have I misunderstood your use of RBG and CYM? Thank you, Lars

"Film portrait look" means nothing actually.... which film, what camera, what? First of all, grain. You CANNOT get realistic grain in LR becuase it applies everywhere, equally.

Good info but it would be better without having a face moving constantly on the opposite side of the screen of where the focus actually is. Would be best without the selfie window altogether.

For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
