Bobs Burgers feel like if Simpsons had kept that original simpler humor without going to far from what made it funny And see how it’s kept it up for so long really shows they know what made it enjoyable

Bob's Burgers feels to me like a more personal and less broadly political version of the glory years of The Simpsons. Some of that is from relatable jokes that are somewhat similar to what Family Guy does well but, when it comes to character development, Bob's Burgers blows The Simpsons and Family Guy out of the water. I feel like I know the characters more in this show and I care more about their lives whereas I think The Simpsons, at it's best, made broad societal points with humor without exploring the characters as deeply... but I think I see what you mean. The only '90s/2000s animated show I can think of which compares to Bob's Burgers' character development is King Of The Hill which I would highly recommend and they're about to launch a sequel series of that show too. I look forward to it.

Everyone’s shocked the first season was so unhinged and adult, meanwhile I saw both the first episode pilots that weren’t aired. Originally they were cannibals, and then Tina was a guy. Both of them were more like the Simpsons or family guy

I miss the improvisational feel of the earlier seasons. It was so madcap. The show is still great, but but the anarchic energy of the first five or so seasons was just brilliant.
