I thought about the past and remembered how I dated successfully (and mostly unsuccessfully when I was younger). It was work. High school was much tougher. Not sure why. I think we had another Korean girl at school. At that point, I purposely avoided her. Felt almost too obvious that the 2 Koreans would hook up. Feels like the work arena had less baggage and you didn't have to fit into a box. Was easier to have my personality shine a bit more. - at 16, I dated 2 different girls from my summer job (1 was Jewish. Other was White). But, really I wanted to go out with the sister, but she had a bf. So, I settled for the younger sister somehow. And, even beyond that, I wanted to go out with the girl in her 20s. I genuinely thought I had a chance and she had dudes in their 30s chasing her. Yeah, that was weird. During JUCO, I worked in a touristy / business area mall. - asked out a Puerto Rican girl whose sister worked at the mall. Her sister was married, but really liked me for her sister. But, the girl only spoke Spanish, lol. We went out a few times with the sister / husband, but it was a communication disaster. And, she went back to Puerto Rico - tried to ask out the half Korean / White twins that worked at the mall. I think maybe it was like 1 date? They had pretty volatile home issues from what I remember - thought the Vietnamese girl who worked at the mall was kinda cute. Never asked her out - dated a white girl who worked at the same employer as me - broke up with the white girl and dated the Korean girl who worked at the same employer as me - tried to hang out with the Korean fobs from school, but their English sucked Move / transferred to school and dated a white girl in college whose father hated me because I was Asian. That was weird. She lived in a different state. Moved again for school. Then, it got way easier. Was around a lot of Asian people.

Thank you for sharing your extensive relationship history, it sounds like you had no issues landing dates, but perhaps had a harder time sticking with one that matched you. How are things now? It is very interesting that you did not find interest in another Korean girl, we were very much at the same, pretty much not interested in embracing anything Korean at the time. High school was not a terrible good time for us so we pretty much just stuck with the studies, we uploaded a video on our mental health channel that maybe you might find interesting listening to, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXuldWSQjZx6hK8 thank you for all the comments and viewership. -Kyle

It's a weird time to discuss. Korean stuff is trendy as hell now. It was WAY harder in the past. Still gets a bit weird depending on where you live though. I'd imagine Iowa or Kansas is still "difficult".

We had like 10 Asian people in our suburb. Now, there is an H-mart a few miles from my childhood home. Yeap, we had bad timing.

Brothers / sons are just terrible. Biological or adopted. Communication isn't our strong suit.

Yeah, not sure if I've heard of that situation. Being the adopted child and then a biological kid years later. "Feels" without evidence that it's usually the reverse (or maybe I'm just projecting my experience). I was the spoiled emotional child.

Definitely feels like a lot of our problems would have been solved if...we were all adopted by people living in Hawaii, lol.

What a super and great video!!!! I’m thinking you two are the luckiest guys in the world to have two families that love you guys soooooooo much!! I’ve had the privilege to meet unbelievably nice Korean adoptees here in the US!! Everyone I’ve met are super individuals! I’m a fat old Mi-gook old fart(75) and want to live out the rest of my life in Korea, donating my time teaching english at an orphanage in the countryside. My wife of 30 years is Korean, but has little interest in living full time in Korea. My only hope is for her to come to Korea for six months, but also to see if she is willing to let me stay year round! I fell in love with Korea the first time 1985, and have visited 12 times over the years. Each time I didn’t want to return to the states. Maybe someday?

Thank you for telling your story, Sarah. As a fellow Korean Adoptee, I can understand a lot of your struggles from your past as others have said and I wish you the best with your adoptive family members and your own children. I just came back from Seoul last month for the first time since I was adopted and I strongly recommend you go. I will definitely be back! Take care
