Futuristic architecture is the cargoest of all cults

Where did these dumb a** people come from? When I was a kid everything you wanted or needed was there. And why was that? The country still had it's manufacturing base. That provided "living wage jobs". When I was a kid I would go to railroad salvage for electronics on State street. It would take me hours to list all the places that were there. Sometimes Quickie Snack for a great 'affordable" and edible burger. What made the country great 50 years ago? Discrimination! If you did not want to speak English you did not get the job! That's right, deal with what worked for society. I was born and raised there so I know what I am talking about. I was passing through during the summer and it is absolute corrupt into the bone sh*t hole. The entire country went from a republic to a fascist top government down to the socialist bottom where being independent from the government is impossible. When Edison school was being torn down in 1991 I was doing solo security at the site. The American made school from 1936 was built so well I am still in shock as to how well it was made. I still have pieces from it today such as bells and horns. The demolition crew was throwing all of this American made stuff away. Now the country makes nothing but poverty. If anybody is looking for some specific info let me know. Let the CNU clowns go on the border and construct a border wall!

Wow. I knew CNU was out of touch. But I didn't realize they openly cater to the top 2%. Talking about having more wealth when the car majority of rural and urban dealers have VASTLY diminished incomes especially in relation to expenses.

I found this video because I was researching who and why the government wants to spend over $1B to cap an expressway of less than 3/4 mile in Buffalo, NY. This explains NOTHING, other than a lot of fluff has gone into these projects. We don't need more spending to add to a growing federal deficit. We need lower taxes instead.

Well, when you knock down most of your buildings what do you expect? And don't try to fool us, it's the current city administration who has done this (mayor for 20 years). I know, I was born there.

Thank you so much for your work. I have been living in Europe for the past 10+ years, without a car, and walking everywhere. The infrastructure is mostly human-centered and of a human scale, so I feel safe and walking is pleasant. I will move back to the US soon and I am really dreading going back to a car inferno. I hope to get involved in these initiatives so that we can make the US a safe and pleasant place to walk.

On broadway make the parking parallel on the street because backing up into oncoming traffic not being able to see sucks also put bike lanes on the street it would work out so much better cuz it also eliminates extra space so the lanes don’t have to expand

You're dreaming that downtown area will never be the same I used to go down there when I was a kid and hang out there was all sorts of stories to go into you're going to have to rebuild it back up like that and do businesses want to go there I doubt it because everything's on the internet now

That downtown Hammond is never coming back. All they can do is make it more up to today's standards and that bar is pretty low.

Hammond had a thriving downtown and people stopped going there anyway for whatever reasons. Is this noble effort really going to bring a lot of them back? It could be a huge waste of precious resources.
@HistoricGentleman9 ай бұрын
Many stopped going because of the downtown area being constantly gridlocked by train traffic and no parking. They finally built an elevated parking garage but it was about three decades too late.
@QAlba10748 ай бұрын
People stopped going there because of the advent of the shopping mall. Now we have internet shopping which is a hammer blow to the shopping mall. This effort is the least noble and a waste of resources. I wonder how much money was paid to this development firm to dream up this "master plan"???
@HistoricGentleman8 ай бұрын

What some idiots have forgotten is what built and made hammond what it once was, the steal mills have been sold and removed, any and all factories have been sold and are gone, all of the mom and pop shops and restaraunts are gone, just my opinion, i lived in hammond from 1963 to 1979, i watched its slow death that started well before i came along, you folks waisting time and someones money on projects that are the most ridiculous fantasy ive seen in my 60 years, look at the history the pictures the films what an unfortunate that mind believes that can be brought back, all these ideas are a silly proposition brought on by even sillier people, northern lake county was murderd, let it rest with what diginty some of us knew,
