I live in Scottville and did a job a couple years ago right down the street from this slide. At 59 I had to trundle over there with the work truck and take a slide or two down it. Brought back a lot of memories of the one just like it on the Elementary School playground. It was also January when I went down. Carhartt insulated bibs are also way fast on it.

Absolutely love this. Good for you! Something to consider: At those temps even cold water wax won't be super grippy. I've been using this stuff called Gryptalite on my boards. It's permanent and it works in any temp. Not the cheapest, but you'll never have to wax again. (I'm in no way affiliated with the company, I just really like the product). Keep it up!
@miplayground17 күн бұрын
Awesome! This is a new adventure so any and all input is welcome. If Gryptalite is permanent. will it also work when the water gets warmer?
@BrentRose17 күн бұрын
@miplayground yes! All year round. I've used it barefoot in board shorts, and in a hooded 5/3 with booties.

I have been in Michigan since 2022. I grew up surfing and winter time (wet suit weather) has always been better for surfing. But all of the great lakes I think would be too cold to surf in.
@nickbehling211118 күн бұрын
Hi there, Guy in the video replying. Surfing here in the winter is kind of a two part enjoyment. Half, being able to surf and enjoy the waves. Second half, knowing its a challenge makes the reward greater. Also the water is like 41 degrees. so thick wetsuits only hahha.
@Charlie-k9b3u18 күн бұрын
When I try to surf I fall off the board immediately and get sand in my pants.
@KamieOutdoors19 күн бұрын
It would be so fun to come out and watch you. If you post when you’re headed out you might get a fan club and inspire others. Well, maybe not inspire others cause this looks dang cold. 😂

Very cool 🤙🏼 Have fun, Be safe! What thickness suit were you in? I use a 6/5 in that temp. Excited to follow your journey. ✌🏼
@miplayground19 күн бұрын
Thanks for following along. This wetsuit is a 5/3. I could probably go a bit thicker but it has been working well as of now for what I have been doing.
@campbellcustom19 күн бұрын
@miplayground Great! Getting in that cold water was quite a mind bender for me, even with the warm suit. 🤘🏼

I live in Michigan and we traveled up north to Lake Huron and the lake water is so clean it’s the most purified Great Lake water.
