We don't know the effects yet, but due to the radiation I am higher risk for future complications. I get routine screenings regularly to see if anything new is happening.

Yes! Before my transplant I made an Amazon gift registry for friends/family to buy from for transplant items. It helped them feel involved. Upenn suggested I bring NEW pretty much everything to avoid any germs. So I had on the list things like hats, pants, walking shoes, stuffed animal, colored pencils, shower shoes etc etc

Upenn sent out a list of required and suggested items before transplant though, so that was helpful.

@boundlessintrepiddiscovery7242 Жыл бұрын
@Peggybk yeah! The upenn paperwork suggested it for me, but I was reading online that other people at other hospitals didn't go that far & just washed things beforehand. I think new shoes were standard across the board so you're not bringing in sidewall dirt etc. But I was also super nervous, so I wanted to do everything I could beforehand to reduce germs.
@Peggybk Жыл бұрын
@@boundlessintrepiddiscovery7242 I understand. You’ve had a really long a difficult journey with so many things happening to you. I’m much older than you and only have to deal with the bone marrow cancer. I hope I can just wash everything. I mean, things are out in the open in stores. They can pick up germs that way, too. I can understand the shoe part, though. Thanks for replying and I hope your good health continues.
