Elvish songs are exquisite, yet always....always sad. It's like music of a race desperate to do anything to halt the decay of time.

2:16 that kind of ''syncopated'' pop drum rhythm sounds kind of out of place in middle earth?
@melodyworkshop22 күн бұрын
The first time I heard it, I thought the same thing, and that it definitely stood out! As for it being out of place; I've thought about that a lot with McCreary's creative musical liberty in Rings of Power, such as his metal inspiration with Damrod, and it really doesn't bother me because it fits (and enhances) the scene so well and I'd much rather have a composer with passion for the project and the music over a composer regurgitating the status quo.

@@FringeMusic107 definitely just a tease, more to come! Giacchino, in my opinion, mastered creating new, epic and grand themes, and reprising his catalogue of previous themes dating back to the very first season, perfectly! The final season might be my favorite, music-wise, because of that.

I have to say the Southlands theme is suspiciously over the top triamphant. Not as a complaint, It just gives me a very bad feeling that this will be the best opportunity for that sort of rendition and they will never reach a higher point as a kingdom, as sauron or the orcs will destroy them. Which means will necer hear it as triamphant again. And this is sad and dark. And awesome musical storytelling.

From all of the season, i was repelled from the urgent ostinato when saurun reavels himself. It ruines the majestic outlines of the Tolkien musical world that the series adapted as a whole. It gives a feeling of a shoch value. Cheap, reminds me of a cartoonish "gotcha" moment. But, It is not bear's fault as a bad decision from him. Its the moment as a whole that sucks. The twist itself and how it was executed, is horrible and of shock value. The music is perfect for what the show is showing, but I hate the direction altogether, and it ruins the theme bear has build so carefully.
@melodyworkshop3 ай бұрын
@@whoshoo I see your point! I do disagree, however. Remember; we’re hearing the music through Galadriel’s POV at this moment. With a revelation so dramatic and impactful for Galadriel, the stinger of Sauron’s Ostinato works both music-wise and storytelling-wise. The Sauron Ostinato has followed Galadriel and her quest to find Sauron and rid Middle-earth of his evil. Now, by the edge of the Glanduin, Galadriel has learned that the very evil she sought to destroy, she has instead brought to power. The tone of the ostinato that McCreary gives it also fits perfectly, in my opinion. If you listen to it, it’s imperfectly pitched and the strings are scratchy. This moment is not one of good will and purity, but one of evil and trickery. The ostinato here isn’t conveying the dark lord, it’s telling us what’s going on inside of Galadriel’s head; “What have I done.”

It's a favorite of mine too! Episode 8 as a whole brings the Rings chords to it's climax, especially in one of my favorite cues in 'Power Over Flesh' at 6:54, when the chords cross a turning point. The chords play on low brass and are sung by deep voices, telling us "This is really happening!". The Forging Theme also propels the Rings Theme forward this episode phenomenally.
