The front of the i5 is the worst example for wasting space that I have seen from BMW, yet... Without that the frunk would have been even bigger than for the i4 or iX3.

Hi I don't have an official statement from BMW and will never get one. But as this frunk is considered cargo I don't think that BMW could void your warranty. You can "load" your car with whatever you want as long as you stay within the specified limits. But I can tell you, I have BMW dealers that buy this frunk from me and in all the years I have never had a single report of an issue from a customer.

Hi man. Thank you for the hint but the charging port of the MINI Cooper SE is completely different. I am currently designing a solution for the VW MEB cars and maybe it can be adapted to the MINI Cooper SE as well. But I have to see later. This one wont work, sadly.

Tut mir leid, dass ich den Ausbau der Abdeckung nicht vereinfachen kann. Ich kann das nach 20 Einbauten perfekt, aber es ist beim ersten Mal wirklich sehr fummelig.

Hi Stefan ich kopier dir mal den Text aus den FAQs hier rein ;-) Da wir nicht für BMW sprechen können, können wir das nicht beantworten. Wir können hier nur beruhigen, dass wir in all unseren Jahren noch von keinem Kunden gehört haben, dass er Probleme gehabt hätte. Uns fallen hier auch keine stichhaltigen Argumente für einen Garantieverlust ein.

Ja... Zu meinem Entsetzen habe ich das auch gesehen. Die beste Ladeklappenlösung auf dem Markt ersetzt durch einen Witz. Identisch beim i7. Mir fehlen da echt die Worte für solche Aktionen. i5 habe ich mir schon vorgemerkt, kann aber noch dauern.

Hi measurements are hard to tell because the shape is not a box design and everything is sloped. The frunk will give your about 35 liters of additional space. Regarding weight I cannot give you a finite number but we did our tests with about 10 kg weight and were not able to detect any motion. So I don't worry about the weight as long as you dont load it with bricks ;-)

Thats the downside of these mixed platforms. Don't know what's the reason for all that hilarious waste of space as the last pure EV platform of the BMW iX has the same issues. A gigantic front hood without even a tiny frunk 🤷🏼‍♂

Hi Sorry for the long response time. I am currently preparing a Kickstarter to make a Charge Port Flap for the US market. As you can imagine it is quite an effort and with the BMW i3 already withdrawn I want to make sure not to sink some 5 digit investment. Will publish the link here as soon as I have set it up.

Hi This frunk is pretty tough and can easily take everything you want to carry around. BMW standard charger, Charging cable first aid kit and so on. I cannot give you precise numbers but we did our test with an overall weight of about 10 kg and it was no issue at all. I never heared any noises from the front and even if something would move inside the frunk. The front compartement is insulated to shield off the noise of a combustion engine 😉

@@WOKEBY Das Schmuckstück ist eben angekommen. Ich möchte euch ein konstruktives Feedback geben: Hab die Ladeklappe direkt eingebaut. Sehr einfach, auch mit einem 7cm Schlitz-Schraubendreher. Die Ladeklappe ist richtig praktisch, wirkt stabil und die Haptik ist gut. Deutlich schöner als die Gummistopfen ist sie auch. Sehr gut zuende gedacht: Ihr habt eine Abdeckung für die Halterung der alten Ladestopfen dazu gelegt sowie 4 Kappen für die jetzt ja nicht mehr perfekt lackierten Schrauben. Dadurch sieht es nicht so gebastelt aus. Sehr gut! Wermutstropfen: Außen sitzt das neue Teil nicht ganz perfekt wie das Originalteil mit dem Gummirand. Keine Ahnung, ob eindringende Feuchtigkeit da jetzt auf lange Sicht Schäden verursachen kann. Hoffentlich nicht.😅 Verbesserungswürdig: Ich fand das Päckchen Haribo unnötig. Das könntet ihr auch weg lassen. Einfach weil da Tierleid drin steckt.💚 Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden und kann euch empfehlen. Die Kofferraumerweiterung vom i3 von 2019 hält nach wie vor und ist ebenfalls extrem praktisch. Freut mich, dass ihr den Preis mit dem neuen Modell von damals 450€ auf jetzt 350€ senken konntet. Weiter so!

Der TÜV sagt dazu: der Frunk ist Ladung, da er ohne Werkzeuge ein und ausgebaut werden kann. Ich habe das ganze Thema ABE / Eintragung usw. mit den hiesigen TÜV diskutiert und dann das Befestigungskonzept so umgesetzt wie mir angeraten wurde. Daher keine Eintragung, ABE oder sonstiges nötig. Im Falle eines Unfalls, wird maximal die Ladung im Frunk an die Stelle bewegt wohin sich ansonsten ein über 100 kg schwerer Verbrennungsmotor oder beim BMW i4 M50 die vordere E-Maschine bewegen würden, also auch hier alles gut. Was der Service sagt hängt immer vom Service ab. Ich empfehle den Frunk vor einem Termin beim Service raus zu nehmen. Das erspart ggf. Fragen. Grundsätzlich trifft aber auch da zu, dass es Ladung ist und diese hat den Service nicht zu interessieren.

I don't have temperature ranges. I intalled my products in all seasons of the year already and as the frunk sealing will remain pressed down after installation I would not worry about it. The only reason the 3M Velcros will fall off is if you don't remove the overspray.

Und im Gegenzug hat BMW seine super tollen Ladeklappen aus dem Programm genommen und neue Fahrzeuge kommen nur noch mit den Stopfen... Das ist mir tatsächlich auch unbegreiflich.

Vielleicht kannst Du ja für andere Modelle auch solche Klappen anbieten, wäre gut dich oder hat man es nun so gebaut, dass ein einfaches austauschen nicht ohne weiteres möglich ist? Ich werde deine umbauten / upgrades jedenfalls kräftig weiterempfehlen!

@@Seubertronic Ja tatsächlich. Der BMW i5 hat wieder Stopfen 😀 Aktuell arbeite ich an einer Ladeklappe für MEB Plattform. Prototyp ist am Freitag gekommen. Jetzt muss ich noch etwas testen. BMW i5 muss ich später sehen wie und ob das geht. Das wird schwer die Abdeckung weg zu bauen, wenn es nicht mein Auto ist 😀

Hi, sorry that you ran into issues during the installation. But in the written instruction I even provide measurement poitns where to put the VELCROs.

Stop moaning, I am from the UK and managed to follow the instructions and you would have had German VAT deducted from the price listed on their website at checkout, so the price you paid would have been basically the same.

@@WOKEBY don't get me wrong, it's a good and elegant solution for the problem and can easily be installed as well. But 115€ + shipping to UK and import taxes on top.. It's just overpriced for what it physically is. If it was 60-85 euros that would be a sweetspot.

@@ESP4762 €115 is including German VAT which will be deducted for sales to the UK. The increase in shipping costs and customs clearance is obviously not my fault and a result of BREXIT. The original bag BMW offered was "just a bag" and costed more or less the same and BMW had so much fun sellig it that they stopped doing so. So I still don't get your point.
