Freestyling more helps tune up your cadence to switch rhyme schemes effortlessly. Also, your bars need to be unpredictable while rhyming on the snares and the ending bar of the track. Biggie is an example of this.

Bro, I can barely hear you. I would like to ask. Can we get a focused modern update rap course. What I am asking is step by step, going from beginner to advanced rap course with lessons. Udemy course you have is really good, but it kinda random. Maybe after doing some lesson, we take what you taught and start writing a rap verse. Then, by the end we have a full song. Stay motivated, modern, and consistent in helping us and we ride till the end. Get paid and keep adding to your course. Your die hard subs like me will pay ( how do you think i know about Udemy course). You'll make more than youtube ads. Just a super sub die hard fan sharing my thoughts.

Appreciate the thoughts (also damn I will look at the volume again I thought I fixed that). That is actually sort of what I’m working on right now. Wasn’t working on a course, per se, but I was looking at my highest performing videos and thinking about how badly they need a refresh. Trying to get the rust off in both making content and rap, but some higher effort content is in the works. That said I will keep in mind the idea for a new course too. I can’t chase money again, cause that’s how I got so backwards the last couple years - but ultimately I’m only doing this to be helpful for people. I’ll think about how I can repackage and/or upgrade the course sometime when my skills are back. Appreciate the support, really. It’s the only reason I’m on here at all.

NOOOOOOOOO! Bro, I dislike AI getting involved with our creative process, be it writing rhymes, writing an essay, or something else that's creative. It takes a human element away. Matter of fact, I recently disabled "Predictive Text" from my android phone and man has it made a difference. Looking back, I was often selecting words that would pop up as suggestions but that was inauthentic s**t. I need to be formulating my own sentences and choosing my own words. I will watch this now so I've yet to judge, but based off the title, this seems super sketchy IMO!

The bottom line is the ai tools (at least that I’ve seen) kind of suck at writing rap. The only real utility I see is in helping you brainstorm ideas with figurative language that you then craft into something better. If you don’t know how to rap or understand figurative language to begin with, it’ll mostly give you garbage. That being said, I see it as a tool just like anything else. Some people will find it useful, others won’t. You ever used a rhyme dictionary? Some people hate them, some love them. I have certainly used one at times when I got stuck, especially in my earlier days. Just a tool. At the same time, I also agree to a degree. Over reliance on any of these tools reduces skill development and authenticity. I feel like I should at least explore these tools to see what they offer and show folks. Just cause I wrote a few bars with this doesn’t mean I’m using this 100% always from now on. I personally didn’t find it THAT useful.
@abandonedbuildingexplorer27 күн бұрын
@@donovonj Took me a while to get back. I get what you mean about it just being a tool, like a hammer can be used to build a house and that's awesome, or it can be used to slaughter a neighbor which is not at all okay. So it's up to the individual who utilises the tool. I haven't tried a rhyming dictionary but I just googled it and I'm open minded, so I will try it out. Thanks! :)

Heck yeah! Thanks for that Reddit thread recommendation and inspiration. Hi Donovan! I just came across your channel. I have been loving hiphop since the early 00s when I was a kid, but have never tried to write my own rhymes. I want to start doing it! :) It's cool you play football/soccer too! I messed up my ankle bad in January, unfortunately, so I haven't played this season. I'm a goalkeeper. What's your preferred position? Would you recommend I purchase a copy of the Webster's Dictionary of Synonyms (or an analogue)? When I watched MF Doom's 'Bookhead' music video, he holds up a copy when he's in the library (1:00 into the record; kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIWmepKYprKcldkfeature=shared&t=59). That lead me to think that he's spent time digesting that book or something similar as part of his process. When i was young, I thought rappers literally sat down and read the actual dictionary like a Christian may read the Bible, or a Muslim the Quran. Finally, I feel like I need to gain access to instrumentals that are very interesting to me and given that I am not a producer, how do I go about finding stuff to use as I write in parallel? Could you recommend free-to-use repositories where producers upload their stuff that's ready to go?
@donovonjАй бұрын
Hey! Competitively I was a center back, but play more striker these days. The injuries are really rough. I don't think you need to study the dictionary or anything (though, some rappers really have done that). Instead, I think it's more useful to do things like try to maintain long rhyme schemes (for example, 8 lines that all rhyme together). This will give you more practical experience that ties to rapping. Just reading rhyming or dictionary words is a bit more abstract whereas you can get some of that knowledge directly while building other rap-related skills. If you're just going to practice, KZbin has tons and tons of instrumentals. Spotify has a lot too. You can't use them for commercial projects, but it sounds like you're a few steps out from that. I'm also starting back into this though, will maybe update with a video or something if I find some better resources. I used to just know producers but it has been a long while.

I just want to address this topic also. As i used to ask myself this question at many different stages of my life. I would say its a question to get an answer to find an excuse not to do the work needed. So basically id someone says in their 30s and their told thwir too old then they can think well i would have done it but im just to old rather than just doing it. If you put your mind to anything you will get there. But if you are meant to rap/emcee even if you was to old and the world will tell you that frequently if your meant to rap would u give a fu** what they tell you? Would you stop nah. Ok literally what age is to old.. there is no age limit. Why? Take pete and bas here in the UK there OAPs and they came out not that long ago. Maybe 5 years ago and check out how old they are. Im not an expert on their music but heres what i believe is their first single to my knowledge kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJLOdayZr9mSq8ksi=levTj5y-qtM_wWpL You will never be to old literally i have an example video more on this later.

Awesome video. Could you give me your opinion on this verse I wrote? I used a lot of the tips I learned from your videos: Capture the moment yeah that's what I'm all about Murder opponents I eliminate all the doubt So many ballin' out that shit ain't for me I'd rather maime frees and writtens on a spree Ain't nobody fuckin' with me though Maybe this a brief check on my ego Fake friends no I do not need those I get pissed then bite like mosquitoes Now tell me what's the point of life? Without a blunt or a joint to light? 'Cause without it I'm nuts spaced and loony To the point I believe I could pay George Klooney How could I be irrelevant the elephant in the room Sniff elements doin' shrooms all I do is bloom Like flowers empowered devour the rest Up every night still no doubt I impress I aim for the best you'd be smart not to test All 'cause my life is about to be blessed Bound to go platinum and diamond beyond No limits for me feelin' free formed a bond With myself so alone I never feel lonely And fuck all you haters who think that you know me...
@donovonjАй бұрын
The rhyme scheme, multis and structure are looking great. If you want to increase the writing complexity you could look at increasing and enhancing the use of figurative language (wordplay, etc.) and/or extending the schemes. Take one of the comparisons and build on it: "My shit is too profound leave you flabberghasted" Enough heat to melt-down any man of plastic "like you took one too many tabs of Acid" And it caused a massive bad reaction Maybe not the best bars ever, but I imagine you get the idea. Just more figurative language, extending the concepts, and longer schemes.

When someone does something for too long he limits himself from tasting new things, when someone thinks he’s smart he actually has no more room to grow and life becomes boring and monotonous , a person who thinks he’s dumb is actually smart because of how much he is able to learn and explore. Each activity thing is limited to the activity itself so don’t do the same activity for too long, each has its own ceiling. Don’t dwell too much on it :)
