Instead of putting the sponges under the waist and knees, introduce as much bend in the back as possible then deal with that with tube angle. This standardises all backs of all shapes and sizes an builds knowledge that allows the development of high levels of skills. Never use centring points. Instead, use accurate collimation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoiUmGOLi7R6p5Isi=xXT4MFHjzOT7AHOf and my usual standard for lateral lumbar spines of all sizes kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGaYi2uaqbWBps0si=147y1V9pci_yk37b

Good demonstration of how useless 'rules of thumb' are. You may as well collimate accurately to the cassette size then use the illuminated field. Never use a straight tube. Put as much sway into the back by lowering the hip and raising the shoulder, then bisecting this angle with the tube. It takes all the guess work out of it. Please look at my lowest possible dose technique for lumbar spine. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoiUmGOLi7R6p5Isi=xXT4MFHjzOT7AHOf where I use no centring points. Look at a series of my usual standard for lateral lumbar kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGaYi2uaqbWBps0si=147y1V9pci_yk37b

My only criticism is that all you can ever get is superimposition of the teeth with the base of the skull, so the collimation could be a little better. If you want to be shocked and horrified by truly bad radiography of the cervical spine, look at the total lack of collimation when they do the open mouth projection in India. I use no centring points, only collimation. I do all projections at 180cm. For my lowest possible dose technique, please watch my video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJTZeWRngsuai9Esi=WL0iOcy4eKftxhm1

Jaime Paredes This is a classroom with a conventional X-ray tube, table, and wall Bucky. However, It doesn’t actually take x-rays because it doesn’t receive any voltage.
