I saw Zakir play with Shivkumar Sharma on the santoor. At Hearst Theater in S.F. part of the Oprea Houss and Symphony Hall complex downtown. The concert was wonderful in this large space. Afterward, a mutual friend I played with studied with Zakir and was friends with him. He generously invited me into the artists dressing area. I walked in, and immediately, there was Zakir to the side sitting. I asked him how it was, and he quickly said to me, "Ask him." My friend. So he didn't seem to like that! But, I had been there. I didn't just come in needing to ask someone. I wanted to know how it was for Zakir himself! But the conversation ended abruptly. Anyway, I wanted to share that experience after hearing him speak now. 🕉 🙏

Hearing Zakir speak about his record with John McLaughlin, Hariprasad Chaurasia, and Jan Garbarek it dawned on me that its title was appropriate. "Making Music" as they created it in the studio on the spot. Just spontaneously creating music, or letting it reveal itself. That was great to hear. I've enjoyed that record since its release. 🕉 🎉

Mmm your title is not what they talk about; only the first five minutes or so; after it's about 'what the writing and publishing world is like today'. Interesting, but not why I clicked.

He doesn´t know Shakespeare. He´s in the old concept on the existence of the Bard. His example of Hamlet as a monologue is unbelievable,

No recent comments about this stellar performance of one of Haydn's superior quartets. Such a beautiful quartet wonderfully performed! One sees here a glimpse of Haydn's greatness as a composer!

It's to be an artist to move forward, to try new things but the.music is so strident and gets in the way of watching the dancers. I'd love to see those same steps put to a different piece of music that is interjected with sweet lyrical passages. Instead we have sharp and sounds, with little variation except to fall or rise. Baryshnikov is a superb dancer and I found it endearing that he admitted he wasn't really a choreogtapher.

Whatever they are trying to convey, just reading eight lines or a short paragraph is pretty ridiculous. I agree, not everyone is a great writer, but many can write well. These so-called editors are just trying to make their jobs look fancy and make themselves appear smart.
