A travel crate in a car is one of several ways to safely transport dogs :) in the UK it's an offence to not have a dog kept secure in the car as they must not be a distraction or cause interference with the driver, so they should either be kept secure in a travel crate or behind a dog guard or on the rear seat attached to a proper car harness and a seatbelt.
