(Originally by Rudimentary Peni) God is nothing more than an obsessive lie While sunday school children are brainwashed into the line And presented with as truth what's really just a lie Another childs' self-belief is sacrificed In the eyes of the lord, men are his servants In the eyes of the lord, women are mens' servants In the eyes of the lord, we're authority's servants In the eyes of the lord, everyone's a servant Sexual roles perversely glorified Beyond virgin motherhood, all status is denied But starvation and death's; the real testament To the truth of the god your bible represents

Dreamscape of a holocaust Followed where no one else would tread Exodus to illusion We're all buried where you've led You can't hold your forked tongue Will you desuerve as you've labeled You've carved a twisted fate Not on the side of devils or angels No wait left for the end Prepare for the worst Cains and Abels Last supper for their lies Prayers from oval rooms and tables You've made final defeat Grave thoughts substitute for bread There is no justice ever Empty words pass through your head Last sunset For the world to see Last sunset Dark eternally Lyrics from eLyrics.net

The intro perfectly describes the late 80's UK Crust sound. It makes me think of just being a crusty squatter drinking cheap brew in some filthy squat on a cold rainy day in some city in Britain. Totally Axegrinder/Amebix influenced.

+backwardswithtime I agree! I think the song could be a post nuclear anthem!

This is from one of the most overlooked albums of all time. It's amazing the quality of this record considering how Lo-Fi it is. I don't feel that people give Smith enough credit for being a studio genius. He left everyone flabbergasted with his ingenuity.

Actually Tim he plays this in a Semitone tuning. I originally though it was tuned up as well. The tuning is directly between E and F tunings. You can adjust your tuner to 430 hz and tune it to E to achieve this tuning or if you are afraid of breaking your strings you can stick a capo on the first fret and tune the guitar down by setting your tuner up to 450 hz. I though it was with a capo when i learned also.

"they never get uptight when a moth gets crushed", I'm sure hes trying to say that unless it's someone important dieing the police don't really care. Gives the impression this was a trailer trash kind of girl, running off with a drunk to get away

Oh I found out for anyone who is wondering, that he uses standard tuning with a capo on the first fret. The beginning note is E major or technically with the capo it's F major
@ClayTimmy14311 жыл бұрын
Is he in standard tuning? Someone please let me know, trying to figure out how to play! Thanks

He wrote it when he was 17, he recorded it again during the Roman Candle Era when he was 24. He states this himself during one of his live performances, "I wrote this song when I was 17 and it has a lot of words so I might fuck it up".

Old or young, Smith was a fuckin' genius...
@victoriousturner12 жыл бұрын
Frankly, I don't care how old someone was when they wrote something. If I dig it, I dig it. He could have written this at age 6 or age 98 and it wouldn't make him any more or less of a genius as far as I'm concerned. In fact, Johnny Cash's later recordings provide a good example of old age bringing new meaning to a song in ways that are totally unique from what a young artist would be able to do.
@PwnZoneification12 жыл бұрын
He said himself in a video or interview or something that he wrote this when he was 17. Doesn't mean he didn't record it a lot later. Unless that's not good enough for you, because I doubt the guy had the kind of ego it would take to pretend to write this when he was much younger.
@MegaMandrake9912 жыл бұрын
is there evidence he was 17? don't get bent...I think this is genius at any age but this is not him at 17. what was he here? like 27?
