Hey, it's the pesky crow man again! This song is my latest obsession tone wise! What's your overview of the Cave bass tone? The exact tone I'm in love with is from London Astoria 2000, where I can hear something different going on when Chris does the slide at 1:20: it sounds to me like one of his amplifiers has a chorus on it, possibly the distortion channel. This sound is far more obvious during the Düsseldorf Philipshalle 1999 show at 1:00. I think I may also be hearing a lot of fret clank coming through the clean amp, as Chris is known for playing notoriously hard (much like Tim Commerford, who has a seriously bright, pick-like finger-style tone). Am I imagining that tone, or am I just hearing him using lighter strings and playing really hard?

@@Corvid here i am, i watched both videos you mentioned. i can confirm that chris had no chorus. in those years he used a boss os2 which is what i used in my video and also that hollow tone he gets because chris used only the bridge pickups.

What settings are on the Animato for this one? Haha, just kidding. Apparently the harmonica they use is a custom because a normal harmonica doesn’t have the range.

Hello great video. Thanks. I got one off the bay and when I plugged it in and engage it, the ‘tremelo’ is constantly working even when I don’t play anything. Is that normal to this pedal or should the tremelo be quiet with settings say at 12 o clock while the pedal is engaged but the guitar is not playing. Any idea? Thank you

Its a 10 volt pedal. Using a 9 Volt adapter won't bring it to life. Its even written on the back. Instead use a battery. Daisy chain method also sucks.

The tone is incredible! I'm also trying to replicate Chris's sound. Just managed to pick up an Animato and it makes all the difference! For this are you using a Whammy set Octave Down, then Ani + Muff with Clean? Also what Amp / Amp Sim are you going into afterwards as I know that can make a huge difference! Devastated Status have stopped making Basses, would've loved to pick up one of his sigs.

thank you so much for the compliments, if you feel like it follow me and watch the other videos on Chris' sound 😉 here I used a line6 fm4 - boss oc2 - big muff - animate + clean sound and a Crowther audio prunes and custard then I use an avalon u5 and finally into a Marshall 7200

Honestly, I think this blows Darkglass out of the water. Darkglass has a modern distortion sound that sits on top of the note. This actually sounds like each note is grinding through like on a vintage tube amp.

Status are up and running again if you're after a stock Chris Wolstenholme signature. They're not taking on custom orders for the moment, and I'd move quick in case they close up shop for good!
