I would like to build that, but add a counter for counting meters lengths. From here I will write on a label what a print said it used. But I have several partial rolls to deal with.

Love the simplicity!! This is the type of extrusion device. That should be shown in elementary, junior and high schools. The first time I saw an industrial extruder I was hooked....

For the winding, you could always add a cable spooler in front of the filament spool

I love the design and the perfect choice of music. I have been toying with the idea of mixing in different ratios of other materials (like cloth) into the whole filament production process, but it seems to be hard getting a reliable feed for it to work "on the cheap". Any ideas?

Water cooling must not be very good for the filament... I think air cooling would be better to prevent moisture in the filament. Still a great design though.

a 3D printer that can switch between structural and electrical components would require i think 3 printer heads and one "security" monitor for preventative error correction.
