Wow! This really helped me with my book. Type 4 describes my heroine exactly in a way that other videos about 4's did not. I also learnt that my second main character is a 3. I'm definately going to rewatch this in the future! This might be my favorite enneagram resource. Please make more videos!!!
@InnerlifeskillsILS2 ай бұрын
Gosh that is very comforting to know, the videos do take time, so as long as folks like you are benefiting and my loved brand is growing, it's worth it. It took me many years to consolidate these essential insights, and I see a lot of confusion in the enneagram world because the basics are missed. A 4 heroine will make a great change from the classic hero archetypes for sure. Glad to hear it.

this video is so great. It's amazing to see people that explain this model in a way that is deeper than the surface level. The doors metaphor is great and super healthy, and made me appretiacte and embrace the very pronounced 3ish side I have in me (my enneagram is 6). Thank you!
@InnerlifeskillsILS2 ай бұрын
Yes I find working consciously to open both doors to balance our type is so helpful. As a t6 you can lean into red pearl 9 and green 3, gut knowing "let it go, let it flow" and 3 "efficiently manifesting your dreams."
@annalo21522 ай бұрын
I'm 9w1 and its hard because im overly critical of myself but have lived according to what I think others want me to be. I really connected with needing to open the door to the freedom and livelihood of 7 and goal oriented 3. The one in me is a powerhouse but 9 pulls me down heavy haha.
@InnerlifeskillsILS2 ай бұрын
As a fellow 9, I get that, it's like a black hole of resisting our own fire and presence. So important to embrace our red pearl inner fire in the belly and be willing to "boom-boom shake the room" is my latest mantra. Impersonal love is our highest expression, so feel love in your belly, and let it move you to take 3 inspired action to show up more fully and go for your dreams.

Hello there
@SnakeWasRight2 ай бұрын
Im writing an 8 character, and immediately, everything you said about 8s clicked exactly with what my instincts for that chatacter are. Didnt know she was an 8 per se til i got into enneagram, but everything fits. The open door to the cold, calculated 5, and needing to open to 2 just makes so much sense, and helped me know the character is working. (She has a romantic connection to a 2 btw, which makes sense to me for her opening to 2, both within herself and without towards others.)
@InnerlifeskillsILS2 ай бұрын
So glad this helped your character development, 8 does have those layers of complexity, and I'm sure this understanding will help you develop a stand out character. All the best with your writing ✍️
@SnakeWasRight2 ай бұрын
@@InnerlifeskillsILS I also think this "opening the door" to types as growth makes more sense to focus on, as opposed to people who just focus on describing personality traits with wings and subtypes.

Amazing detail and explanation. This helped me understand that I'm a 1 who likes the positives of a 5 but most certainly am driven from the gut. In stress, I often can feel that stress in numbness, artificial feeling of cold, and shortness of breath. I live in my head a lot in my work and in my life but as you say it is compensation for doing good/being seen as doing good.
@InnerlifeskillsILS3 ай бұрын
Glad this was helpful. There is also another connection between 1 5 and 3 actually, called a harmonic, developed by Russ Hudson. 1 and 5 shares a pragmatic, practical "starting" point. What has helped me separate the types is to always look deeper than behaviors for the deeper "reason" for the behavior - which is a combination of the pearl and polarity as I call them. I might make a harmonic video.

Absolutely loved this video, Col! The refresher on viewing money as rain for our businesses, just like trees call rain to themselves in nature, is such a powerful metaphor/reminder. Also, the part about fully embracing the identity of an entrepreneur was eye-opening-I had to rewatch it three times to let it sink in. Thank you for always sharing these incredible nuggets of wisdom ❤

Wonderful. However I think it'd be better if you use the word "anxiety" instead of fear for showing the root of the 6. All 9 types have fears, but the point is 6s are afraid of not knowing who to trust - "people anxiety". Fear is a response to an actual threat. Anxiety is a response to a potential unknown future threat that is unseen.
@InnerlifeskillsILS3 ай бұрын
Nice explanation of fear vs anxiety - when I teach I do also like to unpack the full continuum of fear from low volume caution and discernment to higher volumes of anxiety and full blown fear. Great point.

When did you first discover enneagram philosophy and what drew you to it? Were you drawn in by promises of self discovery or self improvement? What happened that really convinced you this was a useful tool? I'm very curious about what triggers form new belief systems. Any answers or insights would be appreciated, thank you.
@InnerlifeskillsILS5 ай бұрын
Hey Billy, about 20+ years ago my friend and colleague Dr Pam Roux and I were coauthoring a book on handing back family baggage, she kept referring to the enneagram types. I was highly resistant at 1st until I dreamt that she told me I was a 9. The next day I called her up to tell her "Pam I dreamt you told me I'm a 9" and she answered, "That's a very 9 way to find out you are a 9!" We laughed. I picked up Helen Palmer's book at a shop and read about 9 and was shocked at the accuracy. The rest is history, now I love helping to declutter and deeply understand the enneagram which soon became an invaluable tool.

Hi! This video is one of the most informative videos I’ve seen surrounding this topic so far! But, I was wondering what exactly do you mean when you talk about how the anger of 8s is less directed at a certain thing or for a reason? Like if it isn’t for something or directed at something then where does it go?
@InnerlifeskillsILS7 ай бұрын
Hi thanks so much for the kind feedback, we put a lot into our videos so it means a lot. There of course are exceptions, but what I've seen is that 8 anger is more innate, the energy of it, like a gut fire always there hardwired. And that is because of the Red Pearl - anger + impact + resistance + gut = Red Pearl (8 9 1). Whereas 6CP is a Blue Pearl, so the mind directs anger "at" an injustice, championing the underdog etc. Hope that helps
