Gary Cole should have received an Oscar for his role. Maybe an honorary Oscar, for the significance of the character he played.

This company has 8 managers per employee and not a single one of them realized that Milton kept showing up when he was not supposed to.

You should have run this clip through the commotion that followed after it ended at 2:08, where Bill was about to find out he was on the 'blacklist'. Love how the management guy next to Bill just goes along with everything the consultants say, it shows how "management-top-heavy" Initech was and how little attention management was paying to staffing levels.

So many things that are backward in this movie, but still not far from how things really work in businesses. Businesses that succeed often do it despite their own poor management. The reason is the front line employees who make up for bad management.
@giganate999Ай бұрын
Probably the most aggravating part is when they tell bill that he isn’t challenging Peter enough he says “I’m not sure about that right now” like they are asking him a question when they are actually criticizing him. Like with most managers when accountability for their bad actions is on the table they are no where to be found.

It gets even funnier with each passing viewing, some of the movie really sucks but most of it is re-watchable at least once a year. And its just hilarious to think maybe the bobs are more interested in firing Lumbergh than they were in firing Peter.

Typical manager/supervisor/boss When the outside management team comes in to evaluate everyone And find someone who they believed would be a great individual for management level positions They disagree with them because they have one teeny tiny flaw And they make their whole case about that

After working in many offices over a decade, I can't tell you how important this movie is. If you find one you like, the people around are nice, the work isn't stressful and the pay is justified, for god sakes hang onto it. If however, your spirit starts to break and you catch it in time - RUN. Run your ass off. Move back in with your parents and go back to the drawing board, you will definitely thank yourself. Theres no sweeter feeling than bumping into an ex colleague 6 months later and hearing from them that nothing has changed and it's only gotten worse. Mind your health.

Thank you that's inspiring and a relief to hear. Im gonna head back to the drawing board but i think ill let them fire me, ill work but sometimes its just not the right fit. I dont see myself in this field for the rest of my career...im glad to hear there's nothing wrong with realigning myself. Im young, fresh out of school, and I can get any another office job, and learn anything i set my mind to

The guy that was laid off, not told, still doing his job, was still geting paid but now isn't getting paid but still doing his job? Yeah that's a lawsuit, that guy will be paid one way or another, the fact they don't want to talk to him to avoid confrontation and most likely a lawsuit will still end up with confrontation and a lawsuit when he can't pay his bills, especially if he ends up losing any property because a payment doesn't go through.

Lumberghs were lurking in cubicle world in those late 90s to mid 2000s at companies all across America. Gary Cole nailed it perfectly.
