no elbows on the table. NEVER. Wrist yes, mid arm sometimes, elbows never. Golden rule thought on diplomatic protocol across Europe. Other thing: Hand on the lap while you eating: NEVER. It was ok, but got outdated. Keeping hand under table might be received as having bad intentions.

No no no - NEVER keep your hand on the lap. In Europe never switch forks and knives.

So, from some of the advice that you mention, it seems as if we need to change how we truly are to be liked, or to connect with someone. In other words, fake our personality. What are your thoughts regarding this ? Thanks

Another incredibly annoying filler word, (often used by ppl who consider themselves "authorities" in their fields of expertise) is "RIGHT". ie: "So, I'm obviously the baddest yo-yoer on the planet right, but a lot of scrubs think they can out yo-yo me, so I have to school them, right..." It comes across presumptive & pompous, like they're pausing occasionally to ensure buy-in, like- "You DO agree with everything I'm saying, don't you??"

CORRECTIONS 1. No finger foods in fine dining. No touching food. 2. When you go to restroom, the napkin is placed on the chair. When the meal is complete, the napkin goes on the side of the plate folded.

It is different depending on the country if you put your left hand on or under the table. Doing this wrong will be considered rude. Just watch what the rest is doing. Usually in the west you put your hand on the table (in the past it was to make sure you don't pull a gun under the table), In arabic countries you put your hand under the table (because you clean your ass with this hand).

Good tips but one you haven't covered. I just discovered - from a transcription of a Zoom call I was on with half a dozen engaged, fast-talking committee members - that I was using "you know" all the time. (And it annoys me when others do it.) But if I paused instead, others would definitely have interrupted. How to deal with group conversations like that?

Today, I was listening to CBC Radio, to Jeanne Beker interviewed by Matt Galloway on the Current. She used filler words, "um" and "you know" a few times.
