Eventhough we did invent 'marines' and we do have some nautical experience, our country fell quickly in ww2, we couldnt keep our colonies and we now do not even have tanks. We gave away our F16s and have a few f35 and a few in the pipeline. To make things worse, they made our 'best' prime minister with no recollective memories (brain deseased?) Head of NATO!?! Who in the right state of mind decided on that?

We are a small country but do have some good things military wise. Like the specialist tactical units. But due to downsizing and budgets made smaller and smaller. Our military has become more and more of a general joke among its own citizens for decades. Biggest common joke being the severe lack of ammo for basic training. On paper we have lots of vehicles, but due to lack of personel a lot are not used. Or some are used to keep others running with parts. For the past 5 years due to that bad image, they have huge issues with active serving military personnel in all area's.. Also people leaving early going in the private sector more and more, getting out because of age. That the government keeps a weird low age standard for active service doesn't help either with trying to fill even normal functions. Like the military police even, or other spots they need to replace. With our dutch mentality of "doe normaal" there is no promotion for anything to attract people, like in the US or the UK. Almost nobody knows about the specialists units which could attract a lot of people. If you do find out about that you are probably later in life and over the age limit they set. They can spend all they want, if the cant attract people, what's the point.

Its insane if we just could make one central government and lower the social security stuff for all those immigrants and people who "cant find a job" so we can put more of it in defense budget. And not paying every politician an average of thousends a month. But NO they are to bussy trying to ban phones in school and trying to make our bad messed up school system even worse by making school harder and stricter and also starting kinder garden 1-2 years earlier. My country is really messed up. Also very nice video keep it up. You just gained a new subscriber.

The navy was something in the 17th-18th century, but nowadays... We also had a good relationship with Russia in that era. 😮💨 Btw, at wartime there are only 2 type of ships. Submarines and targets. We need more submarines, way more imo.

The Netherlands has 42K soldiers. That is not so many. Of course that is not the point. The Netherlands is a nuclear power with about 250 nuclear missiles, capable of reaching any country, even China. The Americans have about 30 in the Netherlands.

The militairy is worse since the havent any combat mission in years. The discharched all the older folks and recruited youngster just from school just to minimaze costs. Now more than 10 years later they are many uncapble officiers without good experiences. On the outside its looks verry good but when we are at wat there isnt enough munition or we cant do sh it

As one who tried to get into the Dutch military, i can say with certainty there is a lack of sophisticated selection process. There is a strong bias to certain groups of people (non race/sex) and when showing they made an error in process they will ignore you. They boast Integrity but they lack it aswel as owning up to their errors.

My dear... in a country like Belgistan and its northern province Vlaandristan, with its overtaxed medieval monarchy structure, where money is siphoned of off the working class in a non-transparent manner, which earns less than 50% of their paycheck after taxes that provide a good life to the political dynasty caste and its lackeys (the dysfunctional functionaries - federal and EU), we, civilians have no desire to be spending more money on war toys that we frankly don't need since almost every country in Western Europe has had their horses graze on our meadows. A stone can almost be thrown from Holland's lowlands to the French ardennes and the German Eifel. That's how small Belgium is. In laymen's terms: If out of the 100 credits you make 45 credits which get dropped on your bank account. With those 45 credits you need to pay: Food, rent, water, water tax, grey water tax (towards two different government organisations), garbage tax, property tax, fire insurance, street tax, vehicle tax, food tax, luxury tax, car inspection tax, alcohol-tobacco and fuel tax, electricity tax, zorgkastax (health care tax) which is indexed each year, and VAT on top of that, there is no desire to see extra tax go to the coffers of offense. A quick google search will tell you this: The 2022 defence budget is 4.2 billion euros, the 2030 budget will be 6.9 billion. This is unprecedented. In the coming years, an additional 10.2 billion euros will go to the Belgian armed forces, on top of the 9.2 billion already provided by the previous government. We are 10 million people who need to foot this bill, a bill for a party we did not start, and we will not be reaping profits from, to add insult to injury, the 9.2 Billion is not provided by the government.... it's provided by the people. Our so called leaders who represent the WEF and use our money to do get there. Does that make sense?

Just like in gold the British had their Brown's bottom, we had our Dutch 'tanked' moment where we sold ALL of our Leopard 2 tanks right before the conflict in Ukraine broke out. I am sure they knew about it because that was a CIA-financed and guided operation so the Dutch government probably knew what was going on. I wonder where the bribes went...

But we have (had) a very efficient social welfare. Change is coming: new government is going to go for the 2 % GDP defense expenditure... And to dismantle that once so efficient social welfare. Could well be that by the next elections, we still have no 2 % but a social welfare system which would have made Maggy Tatcher very proud. In the past, Belgium compensated its underfunding by being very active in different conflict zones with its navy and its F 16''s. However, with the arrival of the F 35 very soon, I'm not sure if this is a weapon system that is as suited as the F 16 for operations in let's say Afghanistan. You don't drive rallyes with a Lamborghini. Is Lamborghini a bad car ? No, but it's not suited for certain tasks. So is the F 35; ideal for delivering nuclear weapons in a stealthy way to Russia (unless they're all knocked out by hypersonic missiles) but it's a bit too tricky to send them bombing mean looking bearded men in Afghanistan. So Belgium won't be able to "compensate" the underfunding any longer. A large part of the budget increase might go to flying with the F 35, which is far more expensive than the F 16. I wished we would have kept let's say 16 F 16's (4 X 4) in active duty. The Americans keep on upgrading them.
