Not quite sure what 'high risk' you mean, especially in the context of 'after reading most of the comments' as only one comment mentions Plisetskaya's difficulties in making this performance happen. Plisetskaya did have these difficulties but the worst case scenario would have been 'project closed'. Otherwise, and it has to be mentioned for objectivity, both Plisetskaya and her husband were immensely admired and well paid in the Soviet Union and she had numerous privileges and state honours including the highest ones: People's Artist of the USSR (1959) and the Order of Lenin (1967). So in 1967, she was a virtually untouchable figure on the russian ballet scene and the risks for her or her team were zero. So it was indeed a Soviet experiment with a Cuban choreographer, just the result was a bit too unorthodox for the poor officials :) But this is where Plisetskaya used her power to get it through.
