Really good app. I make quite a lot of progress, but somehow I sometimes confuse RE with SI, MI with LA and FA with SOL, as I recognise how many notes there are to resolve to the tonic, but I struggle knowing if it goes up or down. (Increasingly so in the higher and lower octaves - in the middle it's less of an issue, but I still sometimes get it wrong. Any advice?

Just found your video. Are you strumming with all four fingers or just your index? I’d like to strum as fast as you do but it isn’t quite happening.
@musicclasswithmr.sontag6 ай бұрын
Its like a strumming/flicking with the first 3 fingers. Practice shaking your hand out as fast as you can then apply that to your strumming. You want your strumming to be very loose and natural. Good luck!

I got a question what is the next step I am now able to recognize the notes in the app how can I translate this to real Melodie’s how can I start to transcribing simple Melodie’s
@unsightedmetal68572 жыл бұрын
Have you figured it out yet? I am wondering the same thing. It may help to go to the Advanced mode. Choose a level (probably start with C major, 1 full octave) and under "Advance" tap Settings. Change N to how many notes in a row you want to transcribe, and change Play together to 1. Go back and then start the "Advance" mode. It will play the chord progression and then your chosen number of notes. Your goal is to think of the scale degrees of the notes that were played. There is no automatic scoring so if you want you'd have to do it yourself.

I started to do this yesterday, and I thought this was gonna be impossible, so I came here for inspiration. Today I only got 4 wrong, and tomorrow I'm sure I'll get to 3 or less. I'm starting to become able to distinguish between 5 and other notes! This is so cool!

I love the app and have purchased it to allow custom levels, which is important to my particular way of training. On top of just counting with scale, I am learning to internalize the sensation of each note within a key. The improvement has been noticeable and encouraging so far I learned about the sensation method from "use your ear" KZbin channel. The actual course the creator promotes is quite pricey, but he gives extremely useful tips in his free videos on how to sense notes within a key
@davidjose47682 жыл бұрын
heyy man, i watched use your ear videos too! can you tell me your progress? his course seems intriguing but its too pricey :(, how do you compare that method to this app? which is better?
@danielc42672 жыл бұрын
@@davidjose4768 I hadn't bought the course when I posted this comment. But I bought it two weeks ago. I got it on sale because I subscribed to their email list. Before I got the course, I got to a point where I could recognize most major-key notes at the rate of 1 note per second. But I didn't know how to improve further to achieve the goal of transcribing music in real time, so I bought the course I am only at the second unit, out of 15 units. And I am already expected to do what I mentioned above. So I have 13 more units of new knowledge. Check out the video on their website for the summary of each unit. Though it's only been two weeks, I enjoy the course so far. The method from the the app is only a small part of the useYourEar course. I would recommend that you use the app to improve your melodic dictation as much as possible using the free useYourEar videos. Then consider buying the course afterwards
@Ifeoma_Gift2 жыл бұрын
@@danielc4267 I'm interested too, but I'm not sure about buying their course from just the app. If you don't mind I'd like to ask how I can subscribe to their mailing list, and what would you suggest?
