I’m enjoying and am caught up on my Kirby wirby pair, and am frantically trying to catch up on my cozy knitter advent socks. The heel flap and gussets are my favorite, but they are hard to knock out so quickly for me. Glad you caught up on your puzzles. We have a 24 day one where you put in 42 pieces every day. They are in segments so it’s fun. 😊 I think this is our third year with it.

I’m knitting the advent socks from Woolens and Nosh, also doing cuff down. Not sure if I will get through all 24 stripes before the socks are done but it sure is fun keeping up! Maybe I’ll have enough leftovers to make shorty socks too. I’m using magic loop and doing two at a time - 9” circs is something I want to try !

About the walking - we paid a few hundred dollars to learn some of these things from a highly respected and credentialed training team. I will share what was most effective. Get a gentle leader. It doesn't hurt them at all, but when they pull against it, it will turn their head, so they will just stop. This worked so quickly and effectively for us! Another thing we were told to do is to take treats and stop periodically and ask the dog to do commands such as sit or down. It keeps their mind active. The treats and the stopping were also a distraction if we came across other people walking their dogs. It focused them on what they should be doing which was listening to us and they totally ignored the other animals or people. Good luck.
@BedeSisters3 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! Those are great ideas. I can start bringing treats right away. It will take a little longer to get a Gentle Leader but I'm really interested in trying it. Lacey is a sweet dog but she is very energetic. We need to make walks fun for both of us.

I hated wearing glasses my whole life, but I actually enjoy these! I look forward to getting at least one new top a month. Ugh! I hope your home repairs wrap up quickly without any more surprises. I really thought when you started talking about putting sheets in the wash that you were going to say the washer leaked all over the floor! Whew! Glad I was wrong! We have a bathroom in need of replacing floor and all, but we will tackle that after the new year since it’s just the two of us in the house. Also, I’m looking out the window at our fig tree and the leaves are starting to turn yellow. Frost is expected tonight so today I’ll bring in the plants that will need to winter inside. Happy Fall!

@TracyW515Ай бұрын
Oh, the joys of homeownership- as my father-in-law would say! We were in a similar situation in 2022 when the dishwasher leaked the entire time we were on vacation. We had to do the giant fans and big plastic zipper doors on the kitchen. We still got to sleep in our beds during the 2 months of reno, but had to turn the dining room into a make shift kitchen. Also, the downside of an 1800s home with additions is that the kitchen linked our bedroom and bath the main living area and kids' rooms, so we had to go outside and around for everything! I do not miss that or envy you right now (but maybe when your gorgeous new bath and bedroom are finished I will)!
@BedeSistersАй бұрын
I can relate to the fans and zipper doors. We've had both. I was thinking just the other day that I'm thankful that my kitchen is available. The mental image of you having to go outside to get to everything is pretty funny (though probably not at the time). It reminds me of Green Acres. They said they will finish on Wednesday, 11/6. We'll see.

I love Arsenic and Old Lace! What a good idea for Halloween. I watched the 1990 movie Tremors and the 1999 version of The Mummy with my son while he was home for fall break. We're renovating a farm house when I'm not teaching, so my spare time has been severely limited this season, but I have started the spin off series of the Vampire Knit Club- The Vampire Book Club (there's cross over with the characters, which is cute), and I'm knitting a very autumnal Hot Dish Cardi in yarn that my friends dyed (who I introduced you to at SAFF last year). I hope you enjoy Starling House! I really liked it. There was certainly something satisfying in the way she cleaned up that spooky old place :)
@BedeSistersАй бұрын
We had a great time watching Arsenic and Old Lace this year. The Boris Karloff references are so funny, given that he was doing the stage production at the time. We also love both Tremors (" Run for it? Running's not a plan! Running's what you do once a plan fails!") and The Mummy. I'm enjoying Starling House; I love that the house likes Opal. How's the house coming along?
@joanneyoung5410Ай бұрын
Sounds like you had a lovely trip. I started October with a hiking trip to Sardinia which was just lovely to have some warm weather and sunshine but it be just the right temperature for hiking. We don’t really have family Halloween traditions but for the last two years our village does a trick or treat where all the parents meet with their kids at the square. I set up tables outside bundle up and take my knitting and chat to the kids and parents. It’s a great way of getting to know everyone as it’s a fairly new development (the longest people have been in nine years and they will complete the house building next year ) I don’t have special reading but I’m currently enjoying. The retreat by Kees Postma
@BedeSistersАй бұрын
