You don’t really use your nails to plug cello string no?

This is roughly 7:47 for most recordings

It is a quick fix, although embarrassing. My stand partner, 1st chair, broke his string during the initial Concert Master lead tuning before the performance, and panicked. I grabbed a spare and swapped it out, tuned it and had it back to him in less than a minute. Afterward people (audience and orchestra members, too) made comments about how “lucky” it was that I had a spare string. I was amazed that orchestra members, especially string players did NOT have spare strings in their case.

It’s a good life lesson. Just because someone is incredibly good at a skill it doesn’t mean that they’re actually smart people. The world is run by dumb people in high places.

Idk but seems like you probably cut your nails that day and they were sharp, then it would be partially your own fault to hit it at that angle
@samhampton67714 ай бұрын
As a cellist it’s way more to do with the tension and age of the string and the force he plucked with. It doesn’t matter how sharp your nails are you aren’t cutting through a cello string unless the force would have done it regardless of sharpness.

bro thinks you can cut through a steel wound string with fingernail

I don’t know anything, other than a string under tension will break your finger before your nail stands a chance of cutting through it.

Thank you, Ivan. I'm sorry for judging. The text is quite postmodern. In a good way. There are Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, and Carelli. Vocal performance: excellent cantilena. And the ensemble is super. And behind you is a natural interference from quantum mechanics. This correlates with the performance and the text. Glory to the artists!
