Thank you soooo much for this information. My father was an upholsterer growing up. He never taught us how to use this machine because he wanted a different life for us. I’m eternally grateful for my father and this machine. This machine fed us, housed us, took us on vacations, got us medicine when we were sick, gave our family a good life. This legacy is now over. My father recently passed away and it’s time to sell this machine. Thank you for teaching me the basics on how to use this machine and for the memories at which the sounds of the sewing machine took me back to my childhood. Your instruction and ease of describing the sewing machine is what I needed. Thank you ❤

Im wanting to mill my own boards w my jet sfx 14 bandsaw and max length i can. I would assume i need the 46 inch for max board length any reason to get the 36 instead. The sfx 14s table is pretty big
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 16 сағат бұрын
I have both lengths, and I've never used the long one on the bandsaw. Either will work, but it would really stick out, which might be a hassle if you leave it on all the time. The long fence looks pretty natural on a tablesaw. Thanks.

@TheThoughtfulWoodworker You know, I think that's a good point as I'm not in a big shop, and the 36 inch should be enough, as I'm sure it can support a pretty good length span. I've got some really great dry logs to cut up here woo!

Nice video. I'm pretty sure the tension assembly pin is just to keep the discs from rotating, not for wrapping the thread around. I have seen grooves worn into it from threading this way. You can get a bit more tension by changing the three hole barber pole position to create more degrees of thread engagement in the discs. Here's a good example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpfGnK15d7Jpd7c

The Kreg Foreman was a great purchase when I needed to make a bunch on cabinets. I used it to assemble face frames and panels where I could hide them. With matching wood species, Kreg plugs (or different wood for an accent), it's a very nice and quick joinery system.

This really seems like the perfect plunge router. I'm not on Dewalt's platform, but on makita. Would love to see a comparison between the dewalt and the xgt makita 1/2". Although, I have a feeling the dewalt is the better.

I haven't had the pleasure of using the Makita. I know I gave up on the dream of having all my cordless tools on one platform. Too many good tool brands to choose just one! The DeWalt is a very good cordless router if you only need a plunge router. If a combo router is more your style, the M18 Milwaukee is very good as well. Thanks

Why does my paper keep tearing off at the right side of the drum?
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 6 күн бұрын
It could be the paper itself. I like to buy pre-cut strips so they fit right out of the box. Also, leave a tiny gap between the paper each time you wrap it around. This leaves room for expansion as the paper heats up. Finally, take very light passes with the right grit. I usually use 80 grit first, then 120. Good luck!

This was really helpful but i have a question. The 8" Ruler tape that goes on the side of the fence, how exactly does it go on and where should the ruler tape start? Thanks!
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 7 күн бұрын
Thanks, and glad it helped. I think I skipped the short ruler, because the reference point changes with each new router bit. Kind of like the top scale on the fence, I'm not sure how useful it will be. I figured the long scale might be good for setting stop blocks when making stopped grooves, etc. so I installed that one. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for a good review. I have literally just finished putting my CFlux1 together today. I found the manual less than helpful and was somewhat confounded by the various tags attached to the machine, which leads on to my question…..the splitter “tag” seems to be saying that if you use a two way splitter than attach the hose to one of the 4” pipes and leave the blanking cap off the other pipe. Is that right? Wouldn’t you get a better draw from the attached hose if it is blanked off and if it is meant to left off then why supply a cap on a two way splitter?
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 7 күн бұрын
Very smart comment. I know exactly what you mean. This was a workaround to initial separation issues with the collector. They added a lower bar inside to improve that, but the engineers still noted that separation is best with the second port partially or fully open. This is because it reduces turbulence. I wouldn't worry about suction, because mine has plenty to spare. The best solution may be to add a 4" blast gate on the unused port, so you can adjust it however you like. Thanks!

Have you tried the SW Gallery Series paint? it's designed to spray so no thinning required, and dries and ready to sand and re-coat in less than 1 hour. and you can use the gallery series primer which also is designed for spraying and dries just as fast. Meets KCA standards too! I used to use the SW Kem Aqua series, and the Gallery series is very similar but unlike the Kem Aqua, the Gallery Series is usually available at regular SW retail locations (but I recommend calling first bc sometimes a given location may not have the sheen you're looking for. I ran into this once and had to drive to a different store to get the right sheen, but still able to get it and spray same-day). One potential drawback is that it doesn't use a binder, the bond it makes is purely mechanical, so you have to be mindful of runs and drips on vertical surfaces. But I haven had any issues with that so far. All the best!
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 9 күн бұрын
No I haven't tried the Gallery paint yet. The marketing made it look so glossy, I never gave it a chance. I'm starting to use my Fuji D6 turbine, so hopefully no paint will need to be thinned in the future, unless I decide to. The Emerald dries pretty quickly too, but maybe not fully in an hour. Thanks for the info.

Hi, and thank you for the video. I bought a narrow foot and zipper feet for my 206RB5 and have the same problem with all of them in that the stitches are very short no matter the stitch length selected, I was wondering if this will help fix the problem or if it is likely something different?
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 11 күн бұрын
The foot steppage adjustment from the video shouldn't cause that stitch length problem. I would check the stitch length knob. It may have come loose, or lost the engagement pin behind the knob. Hope you can get it sorted. Thanks

I upgraded my P1206RB-1 to the csm3000 servo then bought the needle position sensor from Amazon, same one your showing. it works off and on. It will stop sensing position then I have to turn off the Consew and unplug power for a bit then power back up and it'll work fine. Last time I did this I was stitching a leather belt then in the middle it stopped positioning again. I'm getting frustrated I spent the money on this upgrade only to have to battle with it all the time. I'm in the return window with Amazon and have requested a replacement, hopefully this one will work like it's supposed to, if not then I'll be done with this positioner. I don't regret the motor upgrade but maybe this needle positioner thing is a lot of hype
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 12 күн бұрын
Sounds like yours is just defective. If you're using a speed reducer, that can confuse the sensor. Otherwise, it's just defective. Once you get a needle position sensor that works right, you'll love it. Thanks.

I was sewing and my needle positioner slipped on the hand wheel hub. I followed your instructions, and got it back working. The only thing I saw is the thread take uplever does not stop in the most highest point to release the tension discs. What did I do wrong, ??? Thanks for you answer. Seiko STH 8bld-3
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 13 күн бұрын
You're probably very close. Just make a small adjustment one way or the other, and retest. Sometimes I find it easier to set the controller for the needle up position. Once it's stopping at the right "up" position, then switch the control box to needle down. It works pretty slick. The key thing is it should release the threads without touching the handwheel. Thanks.

@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 15 күн бұрын
It might be ok if your dye is water based. It uses a different thinner of course, lacquer thinner instead of denatured alcohol, so testing on sample boards would be in order. Shellac is pretty much considered a universal sealer. Anything else should be thoroughly investigated. Thanks!

I want to see how you access the power switch and its safety cover, every time you change a bit. Had I known I would not have wasted my money on this brand. My advice ot people who want to mount in a table is buy another brand.
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 16 күн бұрын
I wholeheartedly agree. The safety switch is an irksome limitation in the router table. On top of that, it's an awkward router for handheld use. When I reviewed this router, along with all major brands for Popular Woodworking recently, it didn't get very high marks. It was ok at first, but the daily reality of that safety switch makes it a poor choice for a router table in my opinion. Thanks
@williams8198

That safety switch completely defeates just about every router table designed wiht drawers or dust collection. YOu have to be able to access under the table wiht two hands. Wish i had never bought Triton

On the 1617 plunge there are flexible dust covers. Just retract them and you'll see the springs. It's not a fancy system compared to other plunge bases, but it works.
