There has always been something about the Pirate Logs fo the first two Prime Games that really made me love them. They are a technologically advanced powerhouse. Technologically seemingly superior to the Federation, but lower than the Chozo. Authoritarian and very dystopian but also with a surprising amount of free speech in their ranks. A caste system in which the role of a Pirate is given by birth but with the possibility for promotion, if an individual earned the privilege through hard work and dedication. They can keep pets. They get paid, vacation, etc. They don't seem to have any entertainment or relaxation areas. Everyone is expected to work for the benefit of the whole species. They function like any other civilization, they must have something along the lines of civilians, service crews, technicians, Researchers, Soldiers, Crewmember for a Space Navy. Multiple Planets they call their own. Farmers, Miners etc. They are straight up evil. But they are at least completely honest about it. They truly believe to come out on top at the end, no matter how many setbacks they have to suffer. Their believe in themselves is incredible. In a way they present something that one could aspire to be. But then they also embody a lot that would be ones downfall.

I think the dread power suit is honestly one of my favorites. The white and cyan is so sleek and pretty. Samus wears white really well.

Strong disagree with the idea that the fan service endings were "creepy". If they were framed like the viewer was spying on her, then that would be creepy. But they just showed Samus chilling out, often in public places, like that's just how she chooses to dress during downtime. Of course, they could also show her in less sexy casual clothes to still give the same chill vibes. It's honestly fine either way.

I don't think it's that big of a deal either way. Sure, some of the ending screens are sexy, but I never thought of them as "just sexy". I always just assumed there was a canon reason to wear very little under the suit (such as needing to maximize skin contact to interface with it, or something). And even in a bikini, super Metroid Samus just looks so tough, and some of the other games show a calmer side of her life. But Dread's ending pictures are also epic, and I love seeing them as well.

The only way it makes sense to me is that it's a relatively loose coalition of a bunch of different species and cultures, which means the structures of different pirate factions might actually be really varied, with some being more organized and militaristic, and others operating more like a cartel, etc. The unifying ideology that unites all these different peoples is an almost psychotic commitment to expansion and conquest at any cost. They're likely to use cloning, genetic modification, and propaganda in order to keep those inclinations going across generations. And occasionally some leader or another manages to inspire a greater degree of unity and organization.

I don't remember where (I'm very confident it was the Japanese Manga) but the double lobster claw space pirates are specifically augmented by mother brain to be able to survive on planet Zebes (technically they're called Zebesians I don't wanna be that guy but I do wanna put that somewhere) so the physical differences are explained in universe and do match up between zero mission and super at least for those specific space pirates

The variation of species in space pirates is explained in-game. They genetically alter and mutate themselves constantly in an effort to make themselves stronger. Come on man.

I don’t know whether I prefer the fusion/dread gunship or the prime 3/4 gunship.

I personally could quite honestly careless if the next 2D Metroid game is either Metroid 6 or a remake of Super Metroid, just so as its a fun, enjoyable, flawless masterpeace of a game that does the franchise justice and not something that disgraces the franchise like Other M and Federation Force. After all the original Resident Evil 4 was fine the way it was yet nobody complained when that game got remade, why should anyone complain if they remake Super Metroid? Its not like the original is going anywhere.

I liked Other M. Call me insane, but I don’t think it’s Out of Character for Samus to try and redeem herself for the mistakes of her past, or the mistakes that she thinks she made. We project too much of ourselves and our own expectations into a character who’s different than we think she is and get mad because she’s not what “we”, the fans, interpreted her as. Seeing people she knew from her past, Adam and Anthony, brought up old feelings she’d long since buried in her solo work. While I will agree some choices were not great, people tend to forget what a first time experience is for a player, and, yes… I will admit, how linear the story can/should be. But Samus is smart enough to restrict some of her arsenal given that she doesn’t want to hurt friendlies. Also, she did lose her home just a month prior. Shes still processing so many emotions from her loss, taking a back seat to someone she once trust might just help her get mind straight. I can definitely say more on this subject, but TLDR: it’s not as bad as your making it out to be.

I can’t believe I’m hoping for multiplayer in MP4 but I missed out on getting to play Hunters back in the day, I hope they recreate that multiplayer experience on MP4….

the space pirates are a empire made up of several species from multiple worlds and the chaos of how the organization runs is the point much like the nazis in RL its structurally unstable and doomed to failure they blindly fallow orders even if they are allowed to critique them but still fallow them their scientists make breakthroughs but also waste so many resources on stupid things that could never work

the manga does imply he works for mother brain because her goals will lead to countless deaths so the motivation is there just not really given as much focus as it should

Whoever says Fusion isn't horror is lying to themselves because I've never been so paranoid in my entire life. Still, one of the things I don't see often is the game over screen of Corruption. That was actually my very first Metroid experience and I thought it was just blood dripping on the floor for esthetics. Then someone pointed out that no, that is the blood of Samus herself dripping on the inside of her visor as it fills her helmet. And you can actuality hear her breathing her last breaths in a way that very closely resembles fainting from low blood pressure (or blood loss). Now THAT is horrifying. And, like, I don't usually like horror, quite the opposite actually, but I kind of want to see at least One Metroid game that will truly scare the crap out of me.

My main problem with the PED Suit is mainly that it just doesn't really act like a suit upgrade. It doesn't provide any resistance to any environments or any extra defense, it's really more of a beam upgrade that comes with a change to the design as a bonus.

I really hope mercury steam is working on a fusion remake instead of metroid 6. I think for main story entries they need some more time to bake in the oven, so i wouldnt want to see metroid 6 so soon. Mercury Steam's ability to blend organic and mechanical backgrounds in metroid dread would be PERFECT for fusion, and an SA-X using Emmi AI would be absolutely horrifying, plus they can't boof the music either because fusion already has an amazing soundtrack

The ships were used by a chozo to escaped, but a good chozo. Metroid 6 is about the federation hunting down samus after tricking her into an underground facility. Those are my theories

The best argument I've seen to explain this is as follows (forgive the clunky nomenclature, but when almost every ship is called a Hunter-class Gunship, it calls for some further method to distinguish between ships): Samus uses Gunship 1 (not really a gunship yet...) in Metroid/Metroid: Zero Mission. It gets shot down, and Samus returns in a Space Pirate Fighter. When the GF show up to assess the surface of Zebes and confirm the destruction of a Space Pirate Mothership, Samus pays to have them retrieve her ship. (This would be possible because this is in the immediate aftermath of both Tourian and the Mothership blowing up - the Space Pirates left on Zebea lack any effective leadership, and have their hands full with handling the existing crisis, so they're more likely to cower in the deepest tunnels they can find than to fight the GF, especially now that GF forces can easily land planetside.) In the seven years before Metroid Prime, Samus has Gunship1 rebuilt into her first Hunter-Class Gunship. Also, sometime between now and post-Hunters, she commissions the construction of a second, less armed but more maneuverable Hunter-Class Gunship (when you've been shot down before and all your stuff and everything around you has a habit of blowing up, you make sure you have backup options). As a result, the gunship we see in Metroid Prime is still Gunship 1, just heavily reworked. That same Gunship 1 shows up again in Metroid Prime: Hunters. A strong argument could be made that she commissioned the second gunship after seeing the ships in use by the other Hunters. During Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, we see Gunship 2 for the first time. Samus is using it while Gunship 1 is receiving further upgrades. This will further distinguish the two gunships, with Gunship 1 being armed to the teeth and Gunship 2 being stealthy, sleek, and maneuverable. We see Gunship 2 damaged, but its auto-repair functions get the gunship up and running by the time Samus is ready to leave. She likely takes Gunship 2 in for a checkup to ensure the ship is fully restored to top shape, but it probably wouldn't take much time or effort to fix any lingering problems. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption shows Samus using Gunship 1 again. Its heavier weapons help match the tone, fighting alongside the GF Navy and providing air support. Ghor does some minor to moderate damage, but this is repaired fairly quickly. The same iteration of Gunship 1 returns in Metroid Prime: Federation Force, after which it vanishes. This is the last we see of Gunship 1. It has been theorized that something happens to it (aka something will happen to it) in later Metroid Prime games, given how they correspond with Gunship 1 disappearing. Certainly, from Metroid 2: Return of Samus/Metroid: Samus Returns on through Super Metroid, Metroid: Other M, and the beginning of Metroid Fusion, we see Gunship 2 consistently, and Fusion makes it very clear what happens to it (death by drifting into an asteroid). Metroid Fusion shows Samus being given the purple ship with an onboard AI by the GF to help her on her mission, and Samus basically takes the ship as her own and not GF property. We'll call this Gunship 3. When we see this Gunship 3 in Metroid Dread, it's obvious that there has been some modification to the vessel. This drives home the fact that Samus does not have another vessel available besides Gunship 2 at the start of Metroid Fusion, and also implies that Samus is beginning to customize Gunship 3 in ways similar to how she customized Gunship 1 and Gunship 2 to her needs.

The GF is just as shady as the space pirates. Their “partnership” with Samus is probably over as she’s gonna b public enemy #1 as they’ll want to capture her

I know some have mentioned Quiet Robe being able to retain control after being mimic'd by the X-Parasite. But I would point out that like Metroids being inspired by Facehuggers from Alien, X-Parasites are inspired by the organism from The Thing. In those movies the Thing doesn't know it is a mimic and very much acts within the nature of the original host. At least until it naturally through instinct wishes to spread. Even though Quiet Robe's mimic helped Samus, it eventually would have sought her destruction and sought to spread itself to other organisms. Any infected Mawkin that escaped would likely do the same. Only keeping their intelligence and memories for as long as it takes to get to a populated planet.

Prime 4 not looking better than prime remastered? I do have to disagree here, while it isn’t a night and day difference it is there. Also just because a new console is more powerful doesn’t mean developers will be able to take advantage of that at the beginning, ps3 launch games looked like they could have been released on the ps2, and ps4 launch games looked near identical to games released at the end of the ps3 life cycle.
