🤪Hi Meg! Are groceries more affordable back in Ontario than they are here in British Columbia? Eating this way (whole grains, legumes, etc) is already less expensive and finding a sale is an added bonus. And as for apples... I like the crispy ones and enjoy a Braeburn or Ambrosia every day. I've always been a tad obsessed with apples and "Pomme" is my childhood nickname. 🍎

Hi Meg! Whew, what a year you've had. I teared up many times because what you're sharing resonates so deeply. I'm sad, very sad, over the loss of much of my functionality to disabilities and often times struggle to accept the shifting limits. I too consistently resist the "shoulding". That internalized abelism is certainly persistant but I'm far more cunning that it is. So are you. Thanks for sharing, Meg. This one is very rich with insight.
@PlantFitMeg

Thank you! This comment is so meaningful to me. It's incredibly difficult to cope with the challenges that come along with chronic illness and disability. The "shoulding" can be incredibly loud and at the forefront at times. Good on you for recognizing the challenges, and finding ways to accept the shifting limits and abilities. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. I appreciate you and your wisdom. ❤️

What?? No Festivus pole and Feats of Strength!! ... Just kidding ... To each there own. Remembering that "Christmas" is of course just a co-opting of Yule (The ancient festival of lights and celebrating the solstice when the number of hours of sunlight start getting greater every day here in the Northern Hemisphere) reminds me that celebrating with lights is a part of the holiday season for us. O and after the holiday season and the general gluttony that sometimes ensues ... Its great to get ready for Veganuary!! Have a happy cozyfest everyone!!

HAHAHA! 😂 The Seinfeld references made me laugh so hard! Thanks for that! Oddly enough, we do have feats of strength from time to time - plank competitions and such. It's nice to celebrate the season with lights! Yup, Veganuary is approaching! Happy Holidays! 😊

Hey Marsh (Chris) I really can identify with the no pressure, try it for a while and see how you feel, approach to giving vegan eating a try. And yes it certainly is easier than it used to be. I mean IKEA even has vegan hotdogs and veggie balls now!! A hotdog involves a filling in a bun so ... sorta sandwich but you can always say otherwise as well. Great seeing you on here and keep being true to you.

This was so good! Thank you for sharing. Have you juiced at all since? I'm curious and would love to look into it. Maybe you could make a video about juicing if you still partake? Also your partner mentioned thrifting and I LOVE thifting. You could do a haul or talk more about the other parts of veganism, that is something I haven't ventured into as much though I do love a good thrift. Thank you for sharing your journey! If you ever go to another conference, let me know. I would love to meet up!
@PlantFitMeg
@PlantFitMeg 7 күн бұрын
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I didn't really juice much afterwards - juicing is quite expensive, my juicer was difficult to clean, and there was always a lot of pulp leftover (and I never quite figured out what to do with it). I switched to smoothies so there was less waste and more fibre! 👍 Thrifting is awesome! Maybe I'll talk more about it or do a haul at some point. I'll let you know if I plan on going to a conference in the future. It'd be so much fun to meet up! 😊💜

When you get to peri-menopause you’ll regret this big time. Your hormones biggest nourishment is cholesterol 🙏 Most animals eat other animals too. I healed my deadly illness of sleep apnea, etc etc with carnivore FYI. Blessings to all.
@PlantFitMeg
@PlantFitMeg 7 күн бұрын
Hi Athena, I appreciate your concern, but I doubt that I'll regret going vegan as I get older and venture into peri-menopause and menopause. Our bodies make our own cholesterol, so dietary cholesterol is unnecessary. Some animals do indeed eat other animals, but humans get to choose whether they eat plants, animals, or a combination of the two. I'm glad to hear that you healed your health issues.

Cozyfest is what I’ll be celebrating this year as well, it’s a great idea! I don’t mind people being religious, but I’ve felt for a while that I’m the only one in the WFPB community that isn’t religious. It’s nice to know now that I’m not alone. It sounds like you’ve made Cozyfest into a very mindful and compassionate holiday. Cheers to the season!

Thanks Marsh, for stepping in a "Takeover Video" 😊...Nice to hear your experience of becoming a plant based vegan ! I hope Meg feels better soon ! Regarding the question .... Is a hot dog a sandwich ? ...Technically yes, but I prefer other mainly plant based fillings for my sandwiches.....one of my favourites....mashed chickpeas, finely chopped red onion, hummus, and finely chopped kale....mix together...spread on bread, pita or wrap of your choice...Yum ! 😊

My Grandparents had a farm … pigs, cows, and fruit/veggies. My Stepfather was a ranch hand on a cattle ranch. By the time I was 12 I had quite enough “real life” to be done with meat all together. In college I made the switch from Vegetarian to Vegan (Ethical by way of Junk Food). In grad school I worked the front desk of a yoga studio and transitioned into a WFPB eating style. I’ve battled with Binge Eating Disorder since childhood and true recovery has come in my mid-forties by letting go and just feeding myself real plant based foods when I’m without restriction. In true Mythical Beast fashion I say a hotdog can be whatever it wants to be. 😂😂😂 THANK YOU for sharing with us. What a gift. I am thankful for you.

Adding spinach to mashed potatoes is a staple in our house. We also love making chili and soups so that is an opportunity to bulk up the veggie count. Are you a "muncher" when watching TV or Movies?? Try munching on the contents of a raw veggie tray (carrot sticks, cauliflower, broccolli, celery) instead of popcorn or potato chips from time to time. Using a good low cal dip with them can also be nice. And yes sometimes the weird can be wonderful. Just add veggies to other stuff you like. Peanut butter and lettuce on a whole wheat bagel?? Why not?
