Would be good to have some info on why they are important. Carbon Sequeatration etc. And what about farmers accessing payment schemes for maintaining 'Waxcap Grassland'?

Thank you for showing us the beauty of the UK's temperate rainforests. They look gnarled and messy on first look but are filled with nature's wonders!

Superb! I've been making meadows for over forty years and I learnt a lot from your presentation. It confirmed many things that I had suspected Now we can all see & say " is there any reason NOT to make species rich meadows FULL of flowers !" Next to tackle cornfields and reintroduce the poppies, cornflowers, corn marigolds etc I know already that they do NOT impact whatsoever on crop production quantities

Not only a great find, but a great video about the importance of recording, and how records can and should inform how we manage sites. Well done, in so many ways. You should br duly proud of yourself.

So in hindsight, 3 years later did opening up the soil expose existing weed seeds?

I'm from the US and needed this education. I hadn't given a great deal of thought to the agricultural side of the UK. I've just been thinking and researching native plants for my own land. The notion that 97% of native meadows are gone or endangered is alarming. I'm wondering what your pollinator situation is?

Great idea, well done. I have been trying to grow this plant for a few seasons with no luck, unfortunately. I still have some seeds, so I will try again. Good luck with your new plantings. Stevie

Have you tried putting the seeds on the fridge for a couple of weeks before sowing ? They need some time at a good, low temp to aid germination. Good luck! 🙂

As a teacher in countryside South Korea, I wonder if our school forest classifies as a temperate rainforest. Alison's lecture is eye-opening. The bark ph table is very helpful. I only wonder: what type of rainforest do you have in mind ? Is holly not to be expected in a British rainforest (as rhododendrons are in Korea) ? In our school forest (37 years old, Quercus mongolica dominant, rich shrub flora, lots of vines) there would be another management issue, slowly-decomposing leaf litter (Q. mongolica, Zelkova serrata).
