When it comes to this season's F-bomb, it's really all about this scene. This is the exact situation where Bojack planned to drop it. For this season, it's not about when it's said. It's where it isn't.

'What a pretty girl.' 'What did they do to you?!' The fact that it took Honey to compliment Beatrice for her to realize that she isn't herself after the lobotomy is so subtly depressing. I wasn't expecting to get this clip on my recommended seven years later to be honet

It doesn't justify Bojack at all but I think 1st half of this clip shoes quite perfectly how little Gina actually cared about Bojack compared to Wanda, for example. She went to this relationship just because it made her feel validated for the first time in ever. I really don't understand people who think they can help addicts by just forcefully taking drugs from them showing no little piece of empathy Again, it's not an excuse for an assault

See this is what I love about this show. In any other series PB would be either revealed to be a malicious manipulative douche bag or a frustratingly ignorant moron. Finding out that his positive attitude is a suit of armour he uses because he’d rather not get into what bothers him (this scene as well as his brother’s health scare) is the perfect example of how to give a character more dimensions without fundamentally changing who they are.

The sad part of this is that this is what psychiatry was based on. This is why nobody should trust unethical psychiatrists who try to upsell you on unnecessary psychiatric drugs.

You know? For a long time I couldn’t watch this episode… Idk why but I just couldn’t. Then my mom died, and I decided maybe it’s time to rewatch the show, this episode spoke my feelings better than I did. “All three of use were drowning and we didn’t know how to save each other but there was an understanding we were drowning together” I miss you ma rest easy 😔😔😔

He has every right to unleash every bit of vitriol that he's saved up for his entire life, especially after what Beatrice did to Hollyhock... instead, Bojack chooses the most beautiful form of grace: spending the last moments of his mom's clarity to comfort her. Out of all the terrible things he did, this was one of his BEST moments and it's especially more heartbreaking when we see Bojack's eulogy and all the things he DID want to say to her... and yet he still chose grace here. I think Bojack saw his mom for the first time here, the REAL vulnerable part of her. To Bojack, all his life his mom was a stone wall. She was cold, but still sturdy... she was someone who acted like she didn't need anyone for comfort, she pushed everyone away... but here the stone wall is broken down. Beatrice is clearly afraid and clearly DOES need him in this moment. This show was SO good at showing that people are multidimensional in character, they have redeeming qualities AND flaws, and that kind of thing is rare in popular media these days.

It’s a miracle honey could have this conversation with Beatrice seeing as most lobotomy patients loose their ability to speak afterwards and have to relearn it.

If growing up autistic has taught me anything it’s this: never assume people don’t notice how you perceive them. It doesn’t matter if they seem unaware, “stupid” or oblivious. People can often tell when others hold them at arms length and don’t treat them as equals

I’m watching this show for the second time, and knowing how she ends up, and seeing all the foreshadowing leading up to this scene, it’s just brutal. My feelings were torn to absolute shreds. Add a little question mark and it’s awful. “Promise you won’t love anyone like I loved Cracker Jack” “I promise I won’t” “Why? I have half a mind”

Bojack was abused by his mother his ENTIRE life. Always remember that one shot of his mother passed out on the couch and Bojack as a child cuddling up to her as his only way of being close to her She belittled him, stomped and spurned every attempt Bojack made to get the smallest piece of affection from her, which never came A lot of people don't understand or disconnect with Bojacks unrelenting bitterness toward his mother because of paternal empathy, but a victim has every right to hate their abuser no matter age or situation. But despite everything he never got from his mother, the one person we as being trust wholeheartedly from birth without choice, Bojack gives her comfort. This is the "deep down" for Bojack where he CAN be a good person. This woman is probably the source of his pathological self destruction and inability to form emotional attachments to other people, possibly breaking him for life Yet despite all of that, he see's his mother's fear and he does the one thing she never did for him, he tries to comfort her and make her feel better. Bojack is a good person. He's just wrapped in too much pain to ever let it out.

People are saying this is the reason Beatrice never showed love to Bojack. I think that's wrong. I think the lesson did stick, but she didn't listen which is why she married Butterscotch who she was in love with, but turned out to be a serial cheating, narcissistic scumbag which in her mind proved that her mother was right so she didn't love Bojack.

I'm not sure if anyone else notice this, but the attention is also apparent on Joseph's eye lids. When you look at him, you see a well family man who is the owner of a business, you see he has a cheery demeanor, and well suited. But the details is his eyes lids are a much darker shade that the rest of him, trying to say all the brightness is just a mask to hide his true nature.

The way she's eating a lemon with sugar on it while waiting for the news of her mother because it was her mother who told her she wasn't allowed to eat ice cream and that sprinkling sugar on a lemon was a "healthy girl snack". She was still listening to her mother even when she was barely around anymore
