An curious about bobbin thread and needle size in the threads you showed

This was helpful thanks. I was wondering how to darn heavy warm socks with yarn. I thought making a knot might leave a little uncomfortable bump?

What size needle are you using with the Razzle?
@asterandanne58693 күн бұрын
I used a new needle by WonderFil called the Wonder Needle, it has a big eye and is nice and long. Alternatively you can use a size 24 Chenille or a size 22 Tapestry needle. Happy making!

I noticed that your Demo machine was a Bernina 570. I have a Bernina 770 QE and when I asked my dealer about using 12wt as the upper thread, they said to only use it in the bobbin. 😅I’m confused. The stitching on your video is beautiful. Will using 12 wt harm my machine and/ or void the warrantee? Is there a machine on the market th as t can sew with 12wt or larger thread? Thank you. Hi, thanks for your thread weight video. Q: how do I know the weight of thread when I’m at the store? I notice that the spools do not have the weight printed on them. I am not educated enough to tell the weight by looking or feeling the thread. Do you have suggestions for me? Thanks a bunch.

Love this project! One question, though: what are the dimensions of the freezer paper template you used? It looks like 2" by 4". Going to pull out my scrap bin(s) & get started‼️

Yes 2" by 4" to give you the cutting size for the rectangle

Thanks for the tips. I’m making a vinyl seat cover for my son’s motorcycle. Draughting and perfect a pattern was very challenging. We don’t have the original seat cover, and my son cut the new cushion foam himself.

I'm almost 65 and when I was around 13 years old (my dad was 53 then), my dad asked me if I could darn his socks. He gave me a bundle of them to darn. My mum sometimes darned them for him, but she worked every Saturday - and never taught me how to darn!! Well, I told my dad, of course I can. I spent a couple of hours getting thriugh dad's socks. He thanked me, but........ A few days later, he asked me what on earth I'd done? He said every sock I'd darned, felt like there was a stone in his shoe!!! I had sewn the holes in his socks, but didn't know how to darn, so the holes were sewn alright, but just pulled together in a clump!! 😮😂😂😂😂 Needless to say, he never asked me again!! 😂😂. Almost 52 years later, I've just seen your video, to see where I went wrong!! I lived with a man for some years, but he earned so much, he just threw his holey socks out and bought new ones, as did future guys I lived with. So I never 'darned' another sock. My poor dad. Oh how I'd love to darn his socks now. He passed in 1995, aged 75. So, watching your video has brought back happy memories. Thank you.

Great demo, thanks! You said we need appliqué pins but didn’t show them in use. I’m assuming they’re needed with more complex shapes, but I’m sure I’ll stick myself constantly as I learn this technique! Are there any best practices for pinning certain shapes? Thanks!

Hello! 👋 🙂 Help please! 😅 I have a stretchy knit fabric I got for several projects that my machine REFUSES to sew. This goes beyond skipped stitches, there is no stitching happening at all! As a dancer I've been sewing stretch fabrics my whole life but this one has me completely STUMPED! I've tried different needles, thread tensions, stabilizers.... Nothing has worked so far, and it's just not feasible to sew all these projects completely by hand only. Any tips, tricks, hacks, advice to get my machine to sew this fabric would be greatly appreciated!!! 🙏🙏🙏 Please and thank you! ❤️

This was very helpful. Thank you. I only wish that I looked for this video before I bought and started cutting and sewing my stretchy fabric. I had no idea there were special threads or needles made for stretchy fabrics. Well, it's too late for me to do things right on this project. I need to be finish within two days, and because everything that I bought for this costume cost more than anticipated, I can't even buy the right stuff that you mentioned. But I still appreciate the information. I'll save the video because I'm sure to need it again.

Thanks for the great video. I would mention that the higher number Eleganza threads are finer than the lower ones. I didn't get that and ordered finner ones than I needed.

Can you use binding clips instead of glue to hold things in place? I don't have any glue. I've always done my binding with strips and miter the corners that way. I don't struggle with it after all these years, but it is more time consuming for sure!! I'm trying to do things easier and quicker as I have a lot to finish before Christmas!! Yours is the first video I came across, and it's a keeper!! Thanks for making it so easy to understand and for your tutorial 👍🏻
