DO THIS>>>> Buy on old rod & pull the body off the chassis & discard. Go to the insurance auction and find your self a fairly new drivable minor collision car which will fit your rods wheelbase, maybe even and electric. pop off its body & discard and mount your old rods body to it. NOW- you have a cool looking old rod riding around on late model smooth riding chassis w all the latest safety features, its is reliable quiet and comfortable. UNLESS of course you want to spend every weekend for years to come banging out dents & grinding & sanding & welding and swearing. !

Body swaps have their place in car customization. I prefer this method for this project. 65”wide x 133” long wheelbase cars are no longer a thing with new safety standards. I enjoy the challenge

Amazing choice! I too was planning wanting to go with a non "big 3" pre war cars... but instead found myself buying a H1 to swap. Greatly looking forward to watching your build unfold

I like your thinking on car shows, find and show the interesting and special "stuff", we've seen the rest many times over... Keep up the great work with the build and the channel, it takes time to grow your channel, if that's your goal. Mine is just for a bit of fun! regards, Geoff D, Merimbula Australia (My FJ Holden Restoration)

Imagine having a Tesla motor in the rear, and a vortec 4200 in the front, with fabbed intake manifold, to mount a LSA supercharger with intercooler, running about 18-20 psi, using a 4x4 trans and transfer case, and a front differential from a trailblazer SS, or possibly a dodge charger, making a 500 HP fwd, plus what ever the Tesla motor is, I'm just guessing, a auto trans would be best, because a 6speed plus the E-Drive, can get complicated, it should do 0-60 in 1sec, I'd do 305-35-20on the front, and 405-30-20 on the rear, drag radials, it would possibly do 0-100 in 1.2 seconds if traction allowed... The Tesla motor should do 60 in 2.2or less, the supercharged 4200 should do the same, I'd just port the heads slightly, multiple angle valve job, and gap the rings, maybe forged Pistons, with the piston out the hole .010" and cera coat the pistons chambers, the exhaust ports valve faces after opening up the exhaust ports a bit, and polishing them, and build a set of stepped Tri-Y headers. Going from 1.625" to 1.75" to a 3"collectors, 12" long, to run a x pipe, and 2.25"-2.5" dual exhaust, with a pair of flow aster pro series at the end of the pipe, maybe a 6"-8" piece of 3" pipe for a tip, cera coat to prevent rust exit in front of the rear wheels, both sides under the running boards! Of coarse the fenders will require sectioned and widened about 6" this can easily be reversed in the future if stock fenders are desired! Make a running board extensions, a 📐 triangle shaped piece, To go from the running board to the widened fender, 12"-18" long and 6"-8" wide what ever the widened fenders end up being, bolt-on, or rivet on, maybe spot weld, to the running boards, it's better than cutting and widening the boards. Maybe nake the front and rear extension one piece, be about 2" in the middle, then wide and bolt on to the running board, use a rubber gasket, like used to attach the fenders to body. And bolt the extension to the fenders, and while doing metal work, a front air dam/splitter would be a good addition, run across the front attach to the front fenders basically just extend the same basic shape across the front , giving about 6" more area to catch air from going under the vehicle, and at an angle to the ground to give down force, possibly include openings to collect air for cooling brakes and or battery and motor /controller cooling, having the small radiators mounted in from of the front tires. With ducted air cooling them, being mounted on each side of the main radiator being well hidden from sight, a 2-4" thick air dam 4-6" long, with 1.8" x 6" opening on each side holding a 1"x 8" x 12" radiator, Giving a pro touring/ road racing look, slow yet practical ride height, with air ride, to allow lower and higher to get across rough roads.. I'd love to have something like this!!✌️ Sorry to ramble, the 4200 should easily make 500+ HP, especially if the valves are enlarged with the ports. And a trough plenum intake with 4" trumpets entering it, to easily flow to the ports, while adapting a LSA supercharger, with air to water intercooler, with separate cold water tank, and a 4"x 24" radiator mounted behind/under the bumper, moderate boost should produce near 100 HP per hole, 590's+with H2O/ methanol injection 700+ should be possible, and with VVT, the TQ curve should be a plateau from 1800--6800 from 380's+ to 550's peaking around _3800-5800, an adapted 6l90e with 3k stall locking converter, with transfer case allowing front drive only, or shift into neutral, and allow electric drive only, use an electric power steering, and power brakes, adapted c5 disc brakes with aftermarket drilled and slotted rotors, with Tesla rotors in the rear! ± wow I'm wanting to build something like this, if it's only a 90'-00's Chevy truck, S-10, or c/k 1500, use 2500-3500 front hubs, and front differential with a locker, a 3500 diff, 4L80, - 6L90 and transfer case, and batteries mounted under the bed floor with the Tesla motor/ drive unit mounted basically just as it would in the Tesla car, only add air bags and wider tires! It could make one heck of a Silverado SS or SS/E

That is a well thought out Idea. I always wonder how someone would modulate the RPM/wheel speed between power sources like this.

Good stuff. I'm thinking about doing something similar, but using a Miata rear subframe and a Leaf motor and gearbox. I'm not sure yet. Hopefully it won't require as much cutting and modifying!

I highly recommend a subframe cradle like I built and work on it on a bench or table. This cradle really made keeping everything square easy. I just slid the cradle under the car and it is so easy to get the suspension geometry where it needs to be before building the subframe mounts
