I have the black reel paired with a 5' 6" H2OX rod and spooled with 15 lbs. braid. The response I get from everyone is just how smooth the little reel. I was fascinated by just how tiny the reel was and thought it would be interesting to play around with, also to keep in the car just in case.

DO NOT use baking soda with vinegar, baking soda actually reduces the effectiveness of the acid in the vinegar, sure fizzing looks pretty but it's about as useful as tits on a bull.

My friend and i always go through the same sop every trip. He says " want snap swivel, makes change up faster " And I always say " the fish aint rushing me to hook them". ALWAYS a better action with no snap swivel.
@lakemonsterlures2 ай бұрын
Agreed, there are some lures in which it will impede the action (poppers, walking baits…) but overall probably not a bad idea if you’re “junk fishing.” Aka trying out multiple lures to find what they are biting on. I also would worry about some of the snaps pulling apart if I was to hook into a bigger fish. There’s a great video that makes a pretty good argument on snaps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iH6QnqB4iMSshZYsi=exjC5ff2q7jlZ9Pj

Not my number one choice by any means, but better than others. Of my favorites I think my Shimanos are the top, then daiwa. I do like my 13 fishing concept reel, but I got it at 60% off… wouldn’t have paid more than that. The Revo reel (Ike signature model) is pretty good.

How does the reel compare to other bait casting reels? How different is it?
@lakemonsterlures3 ай бұрын
It’s super small… it doesn’t slip when fighting if that’s a concern. It actually is a really strong reel. Fighting a fish on it is very difficult. It makes every fish feel like a giant. It’s a lot of fun. 18 inches per crank is just about a foot per rotation. So if you cast out 50ft you’re going to crank it almost 50 times to bring it in. If the ratio was 7:1:1 and a “normal” size I would buy it. The quality is really good.

Is the key is to real as fast as possible for bass. For trout fishing don't do that and that is top gearing for my poles i don't find bass much in the high desert is to cold in the water for bass.
@lakemonsterlures6 ай бұрын
Trout have much softer mouths. I used to live in Colorado, and go back there often. It does seem that the fight for bass fishing goes a lot quicker. Try to keep tension on the line so they don’t toss the hook.

Nice looking repaints. It’s fun finding lures and reconditioning them. It’s even more fun to catch fish with them. FYI, Northland Crazy Legs skirts fit perfectly on Hula Poppers as replacements although the dressed treble does look good. Barlow’s Tackle sells skirts that work great too. If you ever come across lures that were originally plated but the plating is damaged and needs to be removed, 91% isopropyl alcohol or professional cleaner/degreaser will remove it.

What paint do you use?
@lakemonsterlures9 ай бұрын
There are paints that I buy from HobbyLobby. They tend to be on sale most times I go there. Createx is the brand. Use only about a pea size amount with a bit of reducer to make it a bit thinner. Probably a 2:1 ratio 2 drops paint to 1 drop of reducer
@lakemonsterlures9 ай бұрын
You can also use those same paints with a small brush if you don’t have an airbrush. But then I’d probably just buy any cheap acrylic paint. Those others cost more because they are made for the airbrush
@BASSIN101tipsandtechniques9 ай бұрын
Good job on those baits. You made it kinda hard on yourself tho since the finishes were fine. You should always take the hardware off first. Then I use a toothbrush with baking soda and dawn and a little water. It'll save the finish and clean it up really good. H&H lures has the 2 1/2" rubber skirts for that hula popper. Great video 👍 Fish on! 🐟
