Lovely video and very well put together. Nice to see the children climb into a beautiful compartment at the start. Like the use of "On the Slow Train" Flanders and Swann.

Used to play from the cement work to Steyning, I can remember walking up the line from Shoreham to Upper Beeding after a night out in Brighton, a diesel locomotive came up behind with a blast on the horn, got interrogated and a lift to the cement works. They were carrying out the annual track inspection 😂

At what point did the line cross the Adur river between Bramber stn and Shoreham stn, was it somewhere near St Botolphs? Was it a bridge? Any info appreciated thanks, nice video.

There was a bridge over the river next to the cement works. The Downs link cycle path does a 90 degree right turn where it was.

I remember my grandmother used to when I was younger- oh we'll take the train to Steyning- this was the mid 80s and she would go- "Oh yes that's right- it closed down"

Seem to remember that a short stretch of railway was maintained after closure to passengers for freight trains to supply the cement works.

Use to love our weekly summer trip on this line. Up to Steyning Market, Chips in newspaper and back home.

This movie has all the ingredients of what this nation could have had,if the goverments of the day,had put people before `profit`? `Yes it could have paid`...heard this from so many many people. The lunatics were running the asylum, and still are today. So much destruction with no long term thinking. And yes,the `lunatics` are still running the show today? Thanks for putting this up..a well put together piece of history.
