I would say they were not resealed because how the pack opened cleanly. If someone re-glued them there would be a tear or multiply tears in the wax paper. I would say to you that you got an unsearched pack, it was not unusual for some cards to be reversed in the 1970-1974 topps cards, in fact I opened many that were reversed and sometimes 2 cards would be upside down. Wow!!! What a treat to get taken back to a 1973 wax Topps baseball card opening, thank you sir!

I agree with others here, every packfrom the 70s has been searched. Steam and an iron can work magic. Don't get suckered out of your money. And yes even hobby boxes are searched.

Every card had Bob or Beene, except the Dave Johnson. and all centered? Looks like a reseal.

I have just about all the pins you do but I'm very surprised these pins are not worth tons of money being there are less of these than the cards and that Ruth is the most recognized name is sports history. What do you think ?

Here's the skinny on any submission. Even if, and a big if, a card, especially a 1970's and before, even the 80's does grade a Gem Mint 10, one still has to pay $25 or more for the grading and then has to sell it. Unless it's a 70's and before card of a great player, they're are dozens of cards available on eBay with all types of grades and seems like hardly any of them sell. Take the 73 Mike Schmidt high # rookie card. There was 20 available in all conditions and nobody was buying. It's a risky business no matter how you look at it.

If it had been searched, I doubt the Dave (Davey) Johnson would be there. A PSA 9 goes for about $200.

Well done video. Very informative. But come on. Those underpaid PSA clowns grading Chunky Davis (or whoever that shmoe was) are spending 11 seconds grading that card. It might get a 3 and it might get a 9. Let's stop pretending it's like having a diamond checked by a guy named Shmuel sitting in a high security back office in a Zurich bank.

Just like with cards, with packs, check the corners first...they should look neatly wrapped like a present. No really, take a sealed late 80s Topps pack and try to open it in such a way that you can look through the cards and get them back the way you found them AND put the pack back exactly the way you found it with the corners still looking as neatly wrapped like a present. TOUGH JOB.

I know this video few years old. I just browsed on cards just now and came across this. I never ever had a problem with Screw Down Hard Cases at all. First cause, environment does play a part in all this. Second, I always alwayssss sleeve my cards first. Then I make sure my screw down cases are recessed. I also only tighten the screws just to the point where the card doesn't flop around. And lastly, I sleeve all my hard cases/frames/top loaders and what have you. I mentioned environment. If the place you store your collections is in a high temp./high humidity environment. Then chances are, they will show age, wear or worse. I also use PSA case sleeves to prevent moisture and prevent case scratches! Again, make sure your screwdown cases are recessed, don't over tighten and sleeve you toploaders/cases etc etc. Problem solved! 🎤 Drop....

@LACollection Жыл бұрын
Hi Katt, I agree and I do mention this as well. Recessed screwdowns are okay. And sometimes if it's a regular screwdown and the card is penny sleeved, as long as the screws aren't tightened too hard, that's okay too. Yes, environment plays a role but the screwdowns being too tight, no penny sleeve, not recessed and sitting for long periods of time in the holders are the main factors. Thank you for your AMAZING Mic drop!!! Appreciate you watching and commenting on the video.

Sometimes to judge whether the wax pack is authentic, you have to taste the pack. It usually tastes like asbestos, lead, mustard and Grandma's basement. It has to have an even ratio of all four flavours at 25% grade.

I've been looking into grading some of my baseball Score 1991 packs for some time now. But, what I really want to grade is the box that the baseball Score 1991 complete set came in. Do you think PSA can supply a large enough case to grade a complete set of baseball cards box?

I run an eBay business where I buy old wax paper wrappers and re-assemble wax packs. Trust me, when I re-seal the packs you couldn't tell the difference. My foldings skills are 10/10. I source my gum pieces from topps 87 packs; so far no one has called me out. The gum flavour changed a lot between 1973 and 1987. The 1987 gum is more tangy. Haters gonna hate on me, but I've been making a lot of $cha-ching doing it. One customer noticed that the corners were rounded on a few cards. I just gave him a refund. Otherwise, no one has complained. Sometimes for fun, I like to throw in doubles of the same card, or I add an extra card. One day I might sneak in a hockey card into a wax re-wrap to see what the customer says. Sometimes, when I re-wrap with an extra card, it creates a tighter wrap, and looks more convincing. Enjoy your commons! (and no rookies, hehe.) And, mine smell even fresher than the original My smell-trick is a secret I won't reveal. But, the wax scent trick is floating on the internet. (All I can say, is that it involves childrens crayons. Any brand will do.)

Great video! I had luckily placed my cards with penny sleeves prior to screwing them down. Just a few days ago I unscrewed them to check them out and place in one touches. No indications of damage after about 30 yrs in the screw downs.

Collectors who order a lot of 60s and 1970 cards,be careful! Many of these cards are heritage so if you think you're getting old timers,its not the case. The players they stick on these cards are from today. Bummer!

Cool collection! I have a 1928 Fro Joy Ruth (#6 Ruth is a crack fielder). I’ve tried getting it graded from PSA & SGC, but of course, like you said - they no longer grade them. I bought from a very reputable seller, who stands by his sale. I need the card graded for one of my set registries, which sucks. So I am thinking about trading it back to the seller for a different card😕 Thanks for sharing your collection!
