No, amigo; está en español también. Empecé con el inglés porque la mayoría de los descendientes taínos en la diáspora no tienen acceso a los materiales en español, especialmente las fuentes primarias. Así que esta serie es para ellos. Por favor vea la serie "Let's Talk Taíno en español" en este mismo canal. Saludos y espero que disfrute.

The word "nagua" is still used today for women's underskirt. Women don't use these as much but I remember as a kid my mom referring to the underskirt used to stay proper as enagua. I remember my mom making me wear an enagua in the 80's.

I recommend that you watch the Let's Talk Taíno series in order from episodes 1 and forward. I build up on vocabulary and grammar, so that you can learn, step by step, how to put all of these sentences together. Here's what you'll need specifically for the questions you asked about. Verb: to want Let's Talk Taíno 25 - I want... You want... kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpSpqaSmnNNrna8 Verb: to have Let's Talk Taíno 47 - Are you hungry or thirsty? kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2TVfa2rrKqKatE Verb: to come [from] Let's Talk Taíno 72 - Taíno Question Word: Where? kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6DJln-Vq5uJnbc Present progressive tense: Let's Talk Taíno 35 - What are you doing? kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4G9q4F8ZrKCmKM Before jumping into the present progressive verb tense, which helps you talk about what's happening right now, I recommend you watch the first video where I talk about verbs in the present tense and how they are paired with pronouns and nouns. So hopefully i can use that like this... I wanted to be able to answer a question like "Bená guatéke?" With like... "yaraká pólu [minutes] alú" odí "guatéke toka kún jekésawai alú (if thats the right way to use jekésawai).

You are teaching this language incorrectly. The "K" is pronounced as if the (a) is still attached to "K". The coma in the "Dak' " is basically saying the (a) has been omitted. The "K", is still pronounced as "Ka" making the pronunciation "Daka" as the original language. Try looking at this sentence, it will sound like the original language. "I love cats. = Dak'ro yamuyina. = Daka ro yamuyina.
@CasaAreytoАй бұрын
I welcome you to watch the video, which reviews where that "ka" comes from. It is an abbreviation used in some Taíno variants of the verb "toká" (to be). Using "Daka" is essentially saying "I'm" or "I am" (first-person-singular pronoun + verb). However, in Tainonaíki, "dak" (I) and "toká" (to be) are combined as "Dak'toká" (I am) because we don't abbreviate the verb. If you want to say "I love cats." in Tainonaíki, then you would use "dak" (I), "ro" (to love), "yamúynagu" (cats): "Dak'ro yamúynagu." Other variants use a different verb for "to love" and that is also valid. However, you wouldn't continue using "ka" because it's an abbreviation for a different verb altogether. You don't want to say "I am love cats." for example; you want to say simply "I love cats." 😹 I hope that helps to clarify things for you. 💜

@CasaAreytoАй бұрын

The Taino people are the same people we now call African, African American, or Black. The lighter-complexioned individuals still carry Taino blood, but their representation has been distorted over time. Colonizers mixed with the Tainos, and through their manipulation, the true history has been erased and rewritten. The Taino people are still alive today, but many don't recognize them because they have not been properly represented in mainstream media or history. The so-called "Black" people are the true Tainos, but their true identity has been hidden from the world.
