This wasn’t age discrimination, this law protects them from being taken advantage of which they absolutely were. $17 for a handbag that Sarah sells for $550. She’s a vile person and the sharks are just as bad for jumping in on that, I imagine they thought they would have every senior across the country knitting them handbags for next to nothing.

Absolutely gross. Made me infuriated with the ‘sharks’. Never felt such disgust with them before. They basically said how fast can those old hands sew? Do you know how long it takes to make 3 bags a week and get $17 per while nasty Sarah gets up to $550 per bag! She could have continued, but she would have had to pay them hourly, but that’s not profitable!

I think you only need to do some basic math to realize this was not a “touching” story but one of clear exploitation lol. It took every person a week to knit 3 bags just to be paid about $51 per WEEK and for each BAG to be sold for $225. I think nowadays even children get more pocket money than that.

I watched this Sarah Oliver shtick on Shark Tank. It was touching. Until I started thinking - so I looked up what happened 7 years later. The Department of Labor shut her down. Of course - she exploited these people to make money for herself and she named the company after herself. It's the same justification slave owners made back in the day, "It's for the good of the slaves, what else would they do?" And the slaves often agreed. It was unjust then and its unjust now. Might as well offer the children a job or stop feeding them - they would be happy to work for food. This woman should be jailed.

Thank you for this. I used to go to Bob's late at night studying for tests/finals back in the 2000s. Bob's was always a comfort, knowing it was open all night, there to ease my anxieties. Bob's may have been different 20 years ago, I hope the baseball-pinball game is still in the back and the night owls are still watching MASH and Cheers re-runs on a 10 inch screen. Bob's always felt like a warm place with those points. Seeing these people, hearing their stories, reminded me about how special Bob's was to myself and many others. I'm glad that Bob's Donuts is getting the popularity that it deserves these past years but a part of me will miss walking in at 12:30 am and being given the option of designing my own donut since there were only 4 people in the shop and no one in line. Hawkeye dips Frank's hand in a helmet of warm water, we all chuckled. Thank you for this memory.

Good vid , but I'm slightly concerned that someone has got the wrong end of the stick and that true satanism is not just about going against the grain and doing a few dirty protests. That just means you are a free spirit and you want to do things your own way , not the way of the system . Satanism on the other hand is a whole different realm . Committing the most deprived act's in the name of satan while also adopting the philosophy that the world as we know it MUST come to an end . If your not prepared to kill , rape , pillage , endless hours of reading dark satanic literature and rituals to boot , well your just not gonna get in the club . It's most definitely not the boy scouts. I don't mean to come across as disrespectful but what I'm trying to say is that you can't polish a turd .

I agree totally. This is sugar coating all things satanic.. Furthermore they are worshipping the very thing that HATES and DESPISES them! If they are experts on all things 'SATAN' then surely they would understand that ??? Or is Satan a good guy now ? (In their own minds maybe) The mind boggles. That said, everyone to their own I guess.

Thank you for making this film. Is this still the case, that Marin Co. Sheriff does not refer to Youth Court? And if not, why hasn't someone done something about this? It's so shocking to see all white kids in that courtroom in this film. Who's going to advocate for the Marin City kids? Even Florence doesn't seem too fired up about it. She just says, "I believe in solutions." WTH.

I wrote this in response to a comment below...but figured I'd post it for anyone who's curious/confused about this whole Satanism thing. :) So...why Satan?? The overwhelming majority of modern Satanists are atheists. But we're often atheists who genuinely love most things about religion...minus the false claims and unethical proclamations. The ritual, aesthetic, community, art, music, etc....isn't trivial. In fact, it's incredibly powerful and life affirming. Atheism itself is devoid of content ...as it should be. It is simply a term denoting one's lack of belief in a deity. Satanism _includes_ atheism...but also builds on top of that to form a coherent worldview and aesthetic and code of ethics to orient one's life. But we're not remotely evangelical about it. You either get it or you don't. I was a former "born again" Christian who's mind was succumbed by Evangelical Christianity for years.....and then I decided to actually care about whether my beliefs were true and/or ethical or not.....and understandably became an atheist. But once I finally "got" modern Satanism....I immediately understood it was for me...and was entirely consistent with my atheist understanding of reality. Over time it's become a very meaningful beautiful affirmative part of my life. Many Satanists, if not most, were raised in a religious context. In America, that is overwhelmingly Christianity. And many of us were subject to the worst aspects of that religion. And we often found it interesting....curious...that the mythic character of Yahweh appears to be a malevolent sociopathic cosmic tyrant. While Satan/Lucifer....is a Promethean character aligned with human liberation and refusing to bow before arbitrary authority. It is a mythic character worthy of veneration...regardless of any literal existence. Myth doesn't mean "not real." Satan, as a concept and mythic personality is very very real. And much of the understanding of that character comes not just from the Bible....but also from artists like William Blake or literature like Paradise Lost, Revolt of the Angels and Letters to Earth. Most Satanists consider themselves not necessarily anti Christian....but rather POST Christian. In the same way Christianity is post-Judaism. We've taken elements of the faith we were raised under....and recontextualized them to serve our own purpose. There IS an element of satire in all this. There's also a political element. There's also an artistic creative expression aspect. But....that's mostly the public-facing side of Satanism....most modern Satanism has nothing to do with what the public sees. For many, it is actually a deeply personal, moving, affirming, liberating, creative, weird and wonderful mythic universe in which to construct a new meaning for a new era. There's honestly SO much more to say about all this.....but I realize I'm starting to rant. If you're curious to learn more beyond the basics I could think of off the top of my head....I highly recommend the following article "Why Satan?": stephenbradfordlong.com/2019/05/16/why-satan/ That same guy, Stephen Bradford Long also has an excellent podcast called Sacred Tension which touches on lots of topics....but is mostly about Satanism. Another great resource on modern Satanism is the podcast Black Mass Appeal. Most of the episodes are geared toward an audience who is already on the inside....but several are more broad and intro level stuff for newbies and the curious. I hope that wasn't too long lol....I didn't anticipate writing that much. And yet there's still so much I didn't say that might help you specifically understand certain aspects of modern Satanism that might seem strange or absurd or pointless to outsiders. But I hope what I did write helps. The article above is definitely a great place to start if you're interested in knowing more. :)
