Any updates on how they have held up? I can’t wait to try this!
@ArtsyPrettyPlants4 ай бұрын
I made these at a home I was renting. I went back the other day (4 years after making these) and a few of them have cracks. One cracked while I was still there and I knew was because I shouldn't have poured these on top of the gravel- which created air pockets. The other cracks may also be from the same thing. I also don't have any way of knowing if these cracks are from moving things like heavy appliances in and out of the home, or other reasons as this would be the only entrance to get them in through. I'm confident enough these would hold up under normal use and if poured directly on the ground, that I plan to do this where I now own my home.

"PAM" is not a lubricant. You'll get tiny pinholes because of using that instead of vaseline or a spray on mold release.

@ArtsyPrettyPlants6 ай бұрын
@@frankielafleur1061 None of mine have peeled, but I also sealed them after hydro dipping. The base coat probably helps with this, but I don’t think I’ve had any peeling using acrylic spray paint on concrete- just applied normally.

Thanks for the video but how did you get the powder amount if you said the total amount is 540? you said 360 for powder but how did you get 360?
@ArtsyPrettyPlants9 ай бұрын
Hi, it's a 2:1 ratio. So the volume of the mold is 540. I divided it by 3 to calculate the 2:1 ratio. 540/3 = 180. 180x2 is 360 for dry. That leaves 180 for the liquid.

Beautiful work. The final product looks a lot flatter than the stone that you were working on. Is that just an optical illusion?
@ArtsyPrettyPlants Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's an optical illusion. If you go to my written tutorial: artsyprettyplants.com/diy-concrete-stepping-stones-look-natural/ -Go a little more than half way down the page, there's a photo where you can see the stones toward the back and how thick they are. I have the gravel covering most of the thickness. Most are just over 2" thick and quite irregular.

Like a food sealer? I’m not sure how that would work since the Jesin has to be in the mold before you vibrate. ?
@jefflosacco3363 Жыл бұрын
@@ArtsyPrettyPlants so a vacuum chamber isn’t a vacuum sealer, it’s a small pot where air gets sucked out of the chamber and the material. It’s used generally for silicone molds to remove air bubbles from the casting

This is dreadful. You are simply burning a candle in a plastic jar! I shudder at the health effects from the toxic fumes as the plastic warms up, let alone the fire risk. Shouldn't you consider that before you make your recommendations?
@ArtsyPrettyPlants Жыл бұрын
Julian, this isn’t plastic and JESIN is completely fire retardant. Yes, the research is there. It is 100% safe to use for candles, just like Jesmonite.
