Im owner of the old Noctua NH-L12 which i had for 10 years ( if i remember correctly) and have no issues with fan going bad im using only top 120mm fan ( with LNA) since ive had only cpus with 65W of power ,its maintenance free .

I feel like if Fractal released a Terra variant that basically just adds some extra room at the top for an AIO, but is otherwise exactly the same, they would break the SFF market. I've heard way too many people say they love the look of the Terra but it's a non starter purely because of cooling concerns. But all this time later, and we've still not seen such a product. I guess Fractal hates money or something.

One cool thing that many modern mini PCs have though, is the ability to use an eGPU. Sure in many cases that defeats the purpose of a mini PC, but I can definitely think of some scenarios where this may actually make a lot more sense than building a full system. For me personally though, I'll stick to my usual SFF builds, but it is certainly still something to consider.

Hey quick question, I am looking into building that Case too and I opted for now for Ryzen 5 7600X. I was initially going to go for the L9A but I might change course after seeing your video. Another Noctua Cooler that seems like would work with that case is the NH-L9x65. Same form factor than the L9A but much fatter while still being more compact than the NH-L12S (65mm instead of 70mm). What do you think ?
@SmallBoxCentral16 күн бұрын
L12S for sure! The L9x65 would only be better if you have really tall RAM sticks that won't fit under the L12S. The L12S will perform better temperature wise
@tyrionas16 күн бұрын
@@SmallBoxCentral I wonder really, According to the Noctua website, the L9x65 should be good enough for the 7600X assuming no overclocking. many other people that have built this case didn't have any thermal throttling issue, even with the L9A.

Hello Guys. I´m using this Mini now for a view month. And it works very good. But i´m not realy sure which is the best port for my iiyama wqhd display. Now i´ve connect it to hdmi. Maybe the usb 4//thunderbolt to displayport is the better option. Did someone use this option? I´m not a gamer. But i´m handicaped with my eyes and weould feel better with best contrast/sharness. Some experiences around here? Thanks.

5:00 Here is an idea; turn down the pump speed. Some AIO pumps have use a 3 pin fan header for power and can be throttled down to something inaudible. You don't need to be balls to the wall for the pump speed unless you are hitting the CPU hard. But for idle use or office applications you can keep the pump at a lower flow rate. The best AIO for the A4 H20 is the Fractal Lumen and some Noctua static pressure fans; generally speaking, you will want to stick with an AIO with the pump located in the radiator.

Im planning to run a low profile rtx 4060 and ryzen 5 7600x. I'm gonna run the Theralright AXP90-X47 full copper with an exhaust fan at the bottom of the case. Im thinking and hoping the temps will be fine.

@SmallBoxCentral thanks for the reply! Did a bit more research and found a few builds where people were able to fit a 92mm slim fan at the top, so now im considering making that bottom fan an intake and the top (if it fits) the exhaust.

If you built a non-gaming pc in the terra (i.e. no gpu), what would be the optimal quiet cooling arrangement you could fit?

Personally I'd go with the Noctua NH-L12Sx77, it is the maxiumum height the case will support on position 1 (more CPU clearance) - Here's a link if you want to check it out: amzn.to/3YvtVVj

Just want to add to the comments for those watching this a year later like myself, I have found that even the basic noctua fans if running at half speeds or around 1000rpm are extremely silent compared to other fans I have on hand such as thermalright's, and their performance at those speeds did give me a few degrees less on an amd running hot but not at maximum all core power. For my use they have been great and having a silent pc even when gaming has been a blessing and worth the price.

My problem with A4-H20 is that its options are superior, but aesthetically it screams tasteless techbro. It has _no_ soul. Anyone can design a square metal box that doesn't look stupid, but where do we go from there?

i have a UM790 pro with a 4070 ti super over oculink. its very capable of gaming. i went this direction due to space constraints in my gaming room. it was easy 2 do for a first time PC "build" as id always had laptops and consoles in the past. i can get good FRs of around 90-100 in 4k for wukong high settings for e.g. im very happy i did not get a laptop. with minis forum u can do a "bare bones" purchase where u dont have to re buy everything meaning i can take the mem and ssd and windows from my current set up and re-use it in a future mini PC upgrade witch i think is a great middle ground on upgrade ability between laptop and PC. if u have the space, PC is king but if your choosing between laptop and mini PC (which i think is a better comparison) mini PC wins easy.

Comparing gaming discrete graphics vs integrated graphics and saying that it's comparable makes no sense at all. If you want it to be comparable, chose a mini-PC that has discrete graphics, like the HX99G or the G7 Pt.
@SmallBoxCentralАй бұрын
Perhaps I didn't make this clear enough - they scored almost the exact same in both CPU and Graphics benchmarks, If that's not a good enough reason to make a comparison of real world performance then I'm not sure what is.
@Milk_SimpАй бұрын
@@SmallBoxCentral but who is trying to replace a desktop and then game with integrated graphics? You should look at the atomman g7 pt because someone comparing their gaming desktop to a mini PC is only going to look at one with discrete graphics. They are not going to look for something with integrated graphics.
@Banchis15Ай бұрын
@@SmallBoxCentral@SmallBoxCentral @SmallBoxCentral scoring close to the same in (Synthetic) Benchmarks is not real world performance which is why most people dont take it at face value and instead use it alongside other information, what they mean is a mini pc with a dedicated separate GPU, not whats integrated into the CPU, at that point its more of a GPU comparison instead, this doesnt take into consideration minipcs can be used as for emulation, and upscaling as well as frame generation technologies from Amd, but this still essentially CPU+GPU VS CPU+IGPU
